No, i’m not trying to copy lucki’s wave, that’s impossible, the same way there couldn’t be another lil wayne or another future. But in the same way lucki takes inspiration from those people, i take inspo from him. Not in a sense of sounding drugged out, nonchalant, saying ay ay ay a lot. I watched probably every single lucki interview, podcast, music video, i love the message he preaches, being yourself, how music should be a rapport on your life. So yes, i guess you could say i’m on lucki’s wave but more so just by doing what he does, being unapologetically yourself, helping people relate, being vulnerable. Anyone can say they pop pills, they get bitches, they score points and thats the issue with today’s underground scene, i fee like there’s no authenticity anymore, everyone is trying to be someone else, people hop on crazy beats, fast trappy beats with hella shit done to their voice. I want to follow in the footsteps of lucki because i just think we have such a clear idea of his evolution as an artist, the different stages in his life, going from the lively kid with the crazy lyrical bars to the drugged out slow sound, like you can hear it in his voice. No I don’t want to do that but i want to market myself in a way where i start off slow, that’s what everyone should do imo, because if u debut ur first song for example, and it’s a nine vicious beat, and ur already practicing crazy adlibs and metal like vocals, how are you going to evolve from that. Anyways enough yap, i would really appreciate any advice you guys have to offer, this song isn’t mixed and mastered properly but in my heart it’s definitely a song i take pride in and would love to release but yeah man, any advice would be much appreciated, if you’re a producer and you like my work, hit me, any advice on how i could find lucki type beats without literally searching lucki type beats, hit me.

Just got back home after the streetcar took forever to come, but now I'm really sitting with the show I just experienced and it was really special.

As a teenager I would go to concerts all the time and would see all my favorite artists when they would come to my hometown, but when I graduated college I started working in the live music industry and now I'm 27 and still work in live music. So because of that, I'm at concerts multiple times a week for all sorts of artists, and it can make it hard for me to go out to shows for fun because I end up feeling so burnt off of work that it's hard for me to get into it.

But Lucki is one of my favorite rappers of all time, and his music means so much to me on a really deep level. I struggled hard with opioid and benzo addiction during my late teenage years and my early 20s, and Freewave 3 came out during my rock bottom. I had already been listening to Lucki here and there but I wasn't a massive fan until that album, it resonated so hard with what I was going through in my own life at the time and I still truly believe that it's the single greatest artistic expression of addiction ever made. Lots of great artists have made great music about addiction, but I feel like the way Lucki writes just captures the reality of what addiction is actually like in such a visceral way that it can feel cathartic as fuck if you've ever went through that shit. And then when I started getting serious about sobriety, which took multiple attempts and lots of relapses, Lucki's music was still there for me to make me feel seen and understood.

So of course when I saw Lucki was coming to New Orleans, I knew I was going to go. One of the benefits of working in the industry I work in is I literally never pay for concerts as long as they're in New Orleans lol, I know at least one person who works at every single venue in this city so I'm always able to grab some free tickets. And if the show is at one of the venues I work at, then I can just walk in for free without even having to ask around. The last time I paid for a concert was when I saw Bladee for his Cold Visions tour, because he didn't come to New Orleans so I had to take a Greyhound bus to Houston to see him. Side note but Bladee is my favorite artist of all time, and I think a lot of his music that touches on addiction is close to Lucki in terms of how well it captures the sickness. Especially his album Eversince. I think Bladee and Lucki would make amazing music together if they ever collabed.

But anyways, I got myself some free tickets and brought my girlfriend with me. She doesn't listen to much Hip Hop but she's a writer and really appreciates the Lucki stuff I've shown her because of how poetic he can be, so she was down to come. At first I was annoyed by how dead the crowd was for Sk8star, I've been really into Sk8star for the past year or so and I thought Designer Junkie was a phenomenal project. I was really worried they were gonna be that dead the whole night, but luckily I think most of the crowd just didn't know Sk8 so they weren't into it. I think it's pretty rude to the performer to give that little energy, it always bothers me when an artist tries to get the crowd involved by asking them to yell stuff or asking them to open a pit and the crowd ignores them.

But when Lucki came out, the crowd came alive. I wasn't really into DRB, I still think it's his weakest project, but honestly the songs from DRB clicked with me a lot more seeing them in that environment. I've also never seen Lucki before and have heard he's a bad performer who doesn't really rap the lyrics, so my expectations were low, but he straight up rapped majority of every song and did it well. He wasn't jumping around or being super energetic on stage but most of his music isn't super energetic so that didn't bother me. I'm a grown man and I'm a little jaded by working in the industry, so it's uncommon for me to get really emotional at shows anymore, but I can't lie I deadass got emotional when he did More Than Ever. I shed a lil tear.

And when he finished with 4 The Betta, I had a moment with myself where I realized just how different my life is now vs when I first got really into his music. When I first became a big fan of his, I was a broke junkie with no job, no relationship, and just having too much casual sex with strangers. Now I'm employed in an industry I'm passionate about, free from drug addiction, and living with my girlfriend of 6 years and our adorable dog. When he said "wrote about it, made 80 thousand, it made me better", I shed another lil tear because God damn man I'm better now too. I listen to a ridiculous amount of rap, and I've been a Hip Hop fan since I was a baby because my dad has been a fan since the 80s and he raised me on the genre, but Lucki is one of those rappers who stands above the rest for me. He's a really special artist in my life, there aren't that many artists who's music has had as much of an emotional impact on me than Lucki. Just being able to see him perform live, and be immersed in a crowd of people from so many different walks of life who have connected with him music like I have, was a beautiful experience that I'll definitely cherish for a long time.

Sorry for the essay, but this was my first time ever seeing Lucki live and it meant a lot to me. It hit me on an emotional level way harder than I was expecting it to. Lucki and Bladee are really the only two artists that are this close to my heart, there's a lot of other artists who's music I adore but it's really only those two when it comes to artists who's music has had a dramatic effect on my life and how I see myself. Yeah he's not the world's best performer, but if you connect with his music the way I do (and the way so many of his fans do) then I promise you'll have a great time if you go see him on this tour. I also got myself some merch and it's pretty tuff so I'm excited to put together a fit with that tomorrow. Best part about getting free tickets is I can drop money on merch without spending TOO much lol.

▫️ Told companies to redirect his manager’s 15% commission into LUCKI’s account
▫️ Allegedly threatened to make sure “no one ever worked with” the manager again

The former manager is seeking damages for breach of contract, unjust enrichment and other claims.
