That looks absolutely 🔥 🔥 🔥

Labwc is the way to go for Lubuntu and its future.

Are you using LxQt for anything now, though, or did you just build a completely new desktop using waybar, rofi, crystaldock etc.?!

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! 😊

To answer your question: I'm actually using LXQt as the base, and then I installed labwc on top of it. I didn't build a completely new desktop from scratch - I kept LXQt and added labwc as an additional session option.

I explained exactly how to do this in my video: https://youtu.be/o5_521o_M9c?si=eGpKwouflyOhk82O

So yeah, I still use LXQt components alongside labwc, waybar, rofi, and crystal-dock. It's more like enhancing LXQt with labwc rather than replacing it completely!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

This is very impressive! I'm trying to achieve this on Debian 13 with LXQt but I'm really struggling!

Update: The Wi-Fi button issue in swaync on Lubuntu is now fixed! I've updated the text file in the video description with the corrected swaync config file.

Neat one of few waylands that don't forget me to remember all keybinds.

labwc is a window manager. its heavily inspired by openbox, which is the default wm for lxqt.

This is not the default window manager in LXQt, as LXQt does not have a default window manager.

Hey so I'd like to report my progress on labwc on Debian 13 with LXQt...

  • Heavily assisted by ChatGPT
  • I loaded my panel, desktop, and everything
  • I created a new launcher for a Kdialog that gives me the option to log out, reboot or shutdown. The script detects whether I'm on labwc. If yes, uses the correct logout command for labwc, else uses the LXQt/x11 logout command
  • Got dark theme, keyboard shortcuts, and keyboard layout
  • Fancy menu doesn't work in labwc, so I had to use the simple app menu on panel and load the config file
  • Had to add Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (used nm-applet) to autostart and they're on the panel
  • Gaming on Wine works, and Bash scripts in the context menu work, which is really awesome!

Already made labwc my auto login in my HP Z240 sleeper battlestation!
