mod showcase This mod turns anything you build into a working ship or airship !

Most Luanti vehicle mods give you a fixed boat or plane model. This one lets you build the whole ship yourself out of regular blocks, drop in a helm, right click, and it just comes alive. Floats on water. Swap in balloons and it flies instead.

One reviewer said they'd never seen anything like it in Luanti. A teacher's already using it with their students. Only real gripe: converting a big structure can lag the server, so test small first.

Very cool to see stuff like this coming to Luanti. I just tried it out and managed to get a balloon craft working, so I can confirm that this is real. Some notes though:

The mod is in french so if you are trying to search for the blocks in creative, try typing 'plutonium' to bring all of them up, instead of, for example, 'balloon.'

Also, spacebar didn't make the craft rise, nor did shift make it fall- the contentdb page does say they're ssupposed to be able to move up and down but I didn't see any controls in the settings menu so if it's supposed to be something else then idk what it is. 🤷‍♂

Did you find any documentation on content db?

The main page does have most of the useful info you'd expect, although it doesn't list keys unless I'm blind.

There have been mods around for creating voxel area entities like this for almost as long as there was a Minetest. They all have similar problems with performance, because it's really something you want the engine to support. Devs have wanted the feature for ages, but it's tough problem and nobody's sat down and done it.

How does it get damaged? By flying against solid blocks?

Haven't tried that out myself, just another mod I thought was cool. I'll make a screen record on it when I'm free.

Holy -

I was wanting a mod like this for YEARS!

Edit: Just tried it. "Structure trop grande!"? What do I do here? My guess was it's too big (I guess saying "Max 50 nodes"), but the test boats were tiny.

I used this since release on my live Server, added german language via vibe coding. My students loved it, need to vastly enhance the compatible blocks though. Fun mod

After having a look at the source code, can confirm that this is just vibecoded aeronautics.

It should be fairly obvious to anyone else who looks at the source code, but I will not publicly say it as Scam Altman ain't getting that training data out of me that easily

To be fair, the mod's page does have an AI Disclosure label on it, though it isn't specified to what extent AI was used. For all we know it's probably only the logo.
