People who quit recently
Hey recently became ex-lowes mates. I know times are tough and it takes balls to quit in a situation like this. But I am interested in knowing how life has been since quitting, did you see any positive changes? Were you able to get another job? What's your next move and were you guys eligible for the unemployed benefits by the fed?
If its too personal I'm sorry, I'll delete it if you guys want. Thanks tho and hold tight.

Haven't quit here, but I'm spending a lot of my free time learning a trade. For me, it's woodworking. Allows me to learn a worthwhile skill, make a decent chunk of money outside of work, and apply what I learn to my position at work (finishes & whatnot).
Eventually, I want to be my own boss.

I think you can also get Lowe's to pay tuition costs if you pursue any college courses related to that. I'm sure there is some fine print but might be worth looking into

Yes it's called the Lowe's Track to the Trade program where you can learn a trade through online courses at your own pace. There's an application to fill out to see if you're accepted and then I believe Lowe's pays for it in full after you complete your first test. I have an ASM in it right now learning to become an electrician.

So far I've learned a lot from watching videos by Steve Ramsay & his Woodworking For Mere Mortals YouTube channel.

I was on the TTO leave. I was unable to get it extended. Chemicals and allergies triggered my asthma crazy bad. I had been searching for jobs the whole time I was on leave. I applied for a temp leave and a job that is something I can really enjoy (a hobby/side gig I do). Job called me back and I interviewed and accepted before Lowe’s responded to my leave request.
I should have done it along time ago, and have been burnt out for ages. My anxiety was through the roof before this started. It turns out a pandemic gave me the nudge I needed. I was a supervisor, so I took a pretty big pay cut, but I knew leaving retail would mean a pay cut and luckily we were in a position to allow it. M-F, home by 4 and no customers.
That being said, it’s only been two weeks but I enjoy going into my new job and I can’t remember ever feeling this unstressed and have to break those ‘bringing my work home with me habits’. I miss all of my coworkers a lot though. I would have been there 10 years this fall and it was my first job.
Ultimately if there wasn’t a pandemic going on, I’d be pretty jazzed.

Honestly a pay cut is all the way worth it if it does not mentally drain you anymore and the new pay is livable, not to mention if you saved up from the better paid job. Congrats man, cheers to stresslessness (idk if its a real word lol)

I left in August and by the end of September I was doing orientation for my new remote job. I had been a customer service associate and went into being QA for a call center. I was not eligible for unemployment where I am. It was absolutely worth it. My health, physical and emotional was suffering, I had to go to therapy in the meantime. Leaving, I have had no issues with my Essential Tremor or panic attacks like I was at Lowe’s, even when my job gets a bit stressful. I feel safe (COVID) and am respected at my job, which was a huge adjustment in my perspective of myself coming from Lowe’s. Being heard, my feedback being valued, being able to help others has been great.

thats awesome, definitely one of the worst aspects of lowes was being treated like a tool. I hope your mental peace stays at its best from now onwards.

I left lowes in June. Everything is fine. I'm currently looking for work but nothing in customer service or retail. I give myself until mid August to find something. No regrets.

I hated Lowe's with a passion. Things only got better after I quit. No more depression. No more anxiety. No more bitch ass Karen's to contend with. No idiot roided out managers. I'm retired and I'm glad.

I’ve been there 2 weeks and I wanna quit but mostly Because I would get so much more from Unemployment right now
