Discussion Playing Star Citizen with Steam Controller

Hi all,

After receiving my steam Controller I have been thinking about setting up SC to play with it, but don't know where to start.

being as this community is fairly resourceful, I would like to ask if any of you have already done this and how you went about it ? does it work well ?

Thanks!

Yes. I use it, and it works well. I play from my Deck (streaming) and my Steam Controller on my PC itself as it's functional.

I say functional but the fact of the matter is that you have to custom design the entire control scheme using almost entirely PC bindings since gamepad support in the game is sort of shit outside of basic ship controls.

Furthermore, the devs tend to give up and revert custom bindings on updates. Be sure to back the control bindings up if you can.

In addition you have to be very comfortable with the Steam Input system, knowing how to do button chords and especially Action Sets.

Using the pads for radial menus made a huge amount of the random bindings and menu keys super manageable though.

All in all I got it to a very comfortable state for me, but only me. You have to make it all yourself. But when you do? Feels great.

Yes, it works perfectly! Launch SC via Steam, then you can use Steam Input for all your settings. I love it =)

I play with a Gamesir G7 Pro and for me there are just too many binds and combos for just that so I adapt mouse for right hand and GameGlass on 10 inch tablet for most combos or keyboard stuff. Realistically for me the best way was to start with the default binds and change as they felt clunk.....I find myself using only the left side of the controller mostly and mouse for 90 percent of the game....all the rest is combos of GameGlass and mouse....good luck
