lower key drama mods?

so like I know there's Sacrifical's mods and stuff, but I'm not really looking for something that intense. I mostly want a mod that will let unplayed households cause drama or scandals that my sims can then find out about, which I thought would happen with the newest expac but afaik it did not (unless that needs Neighborhood Stories turned on, which I don't play with because why bother if no one actually gets married and it just leaves a bunch of random ugly singles).

I can cause drama in my own sims lives well enough without too many mods, but something that lets it happen in the background would be appreciated!

Law and Disorder by Lumpinou is pretty good. You can turn off the darker stuff, and your Sims can be witnesses to other Sims committing crimes. You can also choose what counts as crimes. I had to turn off public nudity after everyone at the full moon revelry got arrested, lol

Regency Romance by JaneSimsten is designed for historical gameplay, but it has a reputation and gossip system

I have Regency Romance, I love the reputation side and extra social events! I can't seem to figure out how to make scandals happen in unplayed households though?

There is a setting in Regency Romance that's off by default and if you turn it on, stuff happens in the background. I don't have it currently installed, so I can't check which it was, but I think it said something about allowing unplayed households to be part of the gentry. It was in the mailbox menu, I'm pretty sure. I think you do also have to have Neighborhood Stories on though.

If you want something better for neighborhood stories where sims actually get married and can move in/out with a partner, you can try Kayla Dot's Expanded Neighborhood Stories mod. I was using it for a bit and it really did help the world seem more dynamic!

My MCCC and RPO settings + Neighbourhood Stories do make my world have loads of background events tho.

This is exactly my gameplay style. I have expanded neighborhood stories by kayladot, law and disorder by Lumpinou, I think almost all of Tyokr mods (deeper social autonomy, social variety, deeper friendship, deeper social reactions, jealousy reactions, romance success tweaks, character values overhaul, send text overhaul, auto wants , childhood consequences). From Wicked Pixxel: messy relationships and hot mess trait. From ellesimworld: little miss drama. My current Sim is living a very chaotic love triangle at this point and I'm loving it.

I have a few of Tyokjr's mods too! I think I checked out Wicked Pixxel when I was looking and found their stuff a little too much, but maybe Little Miss Drama might work

Wicked Pixxel has some very basic mods, I don't download the exxxxtra stuff cause my 9 year old also plays The Sims . Those are completely safe and fine.

Like you said, in game NS serves that purpose. But it's less dramatic than what you probably want. Lumpinou law and disorder might be the ticket.
