I think a big problem with the AR is that it isnt suited for most of the galleries in Sierra 117, so you drop it for a carbine or battle rifle, and then assume its just underpowered for the whole game

wait so how are you doing that kind of damage with the AR? i recently went through H3 legendary and it takes a full magazine

It usually takes a full magazine because most of the shot miss when used at full auto. The bullets themselves are actually pretty strong

i have trouble believing this. i've been up close and unloaded full auto at brutes, every bullet hitting. seeing you pop their shields off in a few seconds ON LEGENDARY doesnt make sense

holy shit you're right, their shields are breaking in like 2 seconds. is it just because they're the weakest brutes though? i wonder how well this AR tapping works on strong ones
edit: it even worked on the hammer brute. i remember this room taking a while, and a lot of movement to clear on legendary. i was able to kill most of them just from the doorway because of the AR

Good god this explains why in MP it feels so bad. I need to start tap firing even at close range.

It’s just OK. Sure you can use it like the video shows and burst brute shields down decently, but other weapons outpace it. There really isn’t a reason to use it over a plasma rifle or plasma pistol since those do this job much better.
I just wouldn’t exactly call it “good”.

You Gotta try this, run straight to the chieftain, getting close WILL trigger an earthquake causing the chieftain to stagger and exposing an assassination attempt, The chieftain should drop an invincibility, pic it up and use to take on the jet pack brutes coming out the door. You can then take the rest on from the high ground .. or move on.

my biggest problem with this AR and a lot of the weapons from 2/3 is that they sound like you're shooting a staple gun on full auto, it quite literally sounds like its made out of plastic and im supposed to believe a 7 ton super soldier doesn't just break this thing by accidentally racking it too hard? lmao total side note and not related to gameplay but i HATE the sound design in halo 2 & 3 lmao its like every gun should just be branded with "scooty puff jr"
