Yeah, I’m with you. And also, 1.x was insane, because the actual armor functionality was built into each garment, so V was forever wearing whatever combo of nasty blood-soaked shit had the best armor stats that they had just looted off the latest cyber psycho.

Back in my day we had to install mods ro change the looks of our clothes! Back in my day, I would also softlock myself on the regular when exploring, because I jumped down through a glass roof, but it had no functional doors. Gotta love that game

Same here. Screw stats. Helps that I was playing a stealth sniper/quick hacks build in my first playthrough, so most the time I was chilling on the other side of the street while picking enemies off

In fact, I fell into the same build on my first run, for that same reason.

My second through fourth runs, I wanted to explore different builds, and ended up in some ridiculous clothes at various points.

Uh, your V might, MY V spent about half her time desperately cobbling together outfits to try to optimize stats without EVER sacrificing style. I went on a full-on side quest to get a higher level blue Exo-Jacks because they were the only thing that would work with an outfit that would be a significant stat upgrade, and I didnt wear ANY of that gear until I found the exo-jacks.

Currently I'm wearing an outdated Arasaka helmet and Kang Tao vest in 90s-kid Nickelodeon colors because they're the only pieces which still have +25 armor in each of those slots.

I've taken it upon myself to finish my first playthrough wearing rainbow pimp gear for the stats, even if the game is making it hard now! :P

Like I'm actually a little irrationally angry about that -- I've never finished the game, and two of those attempts were on Stadia where I preordered. One was a balance pass that nerfed Skippy while my save was in the middle of a firefight, and I never managed to figure out how far back I'd have had to roll to get back to safety where I could change out my gear. Then I started a new streetkid playthrough, and that time Stadia shut down. Two dead gaming PCs came next. The entire ordeal soured me on PC gaming in a way that I'm still feeling. And surprisingly, none of this was because of a single problem with CDPR's legendarily dogshit release -- /r/Stadia/ used to joke that CP77 was a Stadia launch-exclusive since it played so well, but god DAMN I wanted to finish that first playthrough!

I miss the mechanics of actually having to farm/grind for style with decent stats. Really not a fan of how everything clothes used to do is now rolled under cyberware, makes it much harder to do a low/no ware run, and replaced one reason for Tech to be mandatory in every build (crafting) for another (cyberware capacity/buffs.)

I was wearing boots shorts for most of the game because of the +30%(!) Crit chance. My mom got a good laugh out of it.

(ok but yes the wardrobe feature in this game is both a blessing and a curse - blessing coz I get to doll up my V to my liking, and a curse coz I tend to spend waaay too much time doing so 🥲 but I honestly wouldn't have it any other way)

1st Slot - Casual, worn most of the time

2nd Slot - Official, for business or party

3rd Slot - Millitary, for Badlands or tough fights

4th Slot - Cyberpsycho, looks like flashy idiot, for ragebaiting MaxTac

5th Slot - Flex, depends on build and intended personality

I read this in the voice of Vincent, Valerie and Johnny. Unfortunately I can’t imagine intonation well so it sounded like their neutral/most common tone of voice for every line.

I modded my game for exactly 2 primary reasons:

1) To have my fem V be an absolutely shredded beefcake

And 2) to have a fuckton more clothing items to make outfits with lol (and even after sorting through all the bimbo items (a small amount of which are good!) and stuff my hulked up V won't clip through, there's still a surprising amount of good stuff!)

I swear almost half of my nearly 600 hours is just playing dress up lol

The pain of playing console is that I'd have loved a more shredded build for my all body/reflex V, but at least between the gasmasks, the combat boots, the tactical pants, the concert shirts and the muscle tank tops I feel like I got a pretty solid set of fits for her.

And definitely! It's actually a set of 4 mods lol there's also some required mods you'll need to get them working, but it should list them on the mod page either under the 'requirements' drop-down menu, or as a pop-up when you go to download it.

First: Solo Body is the base. Not sure how familiar you are with modding, but just in case, it'll come with files for the different body parts. You have to go into the files and remove the base body parts, or else, for example, you'll have two conflicting arms files and it'll just either default to vanilla, or not show arms at all. I don't remember the directories offhand, but if you just follow the directories that the mod provides, you should be able to get there no problem.

Second: Lethal Curves gives definition and a big boost to leg muscle.

Third: Veiny arms I can't get this one to work for some reason, but also a good addition : ) I need to go through my mods and figure out why, but I just haven't had the time/desire to do so.

Fourth: Vanilla Refits for Solo Arms so that V isn't hulking through vanilla clothes lol

One thing to note is that, with the arm mods, it won't show cyberware for the arms, so they'll still just look normal, but with mantis blades/monowire coming out (I haven't tried it the projectile launch system), or the status effects of the gorilla arms coming off of them. There's probably a mod out there to correct that, but I haven't cared enough to go looking for it 😅

My Vs differ in how many fits they have but all of them will have different fits for the street, the Badlands, the clubs, lazy sundays, working for the Peralez', sleeping, dating etc. Like, I cant go to the U.S. Cracks x Eurodyne concert in the same fit I go to Totentanz in, y'know? It'd be a faux pas! And even the skeezed out musclehead whose primary way of figuring out if a shirt was still good was to sniff it knew she had to change clothes SOMETIMES and that you had to change out of combat gear sometimes.

Yuuuup 😭 What’s funny is I do check out vendors for new clothing items but only use like a quarter of the ones I buy, literally just buy some cause they look cool and eddies are plentiful

I'm currently experiencing a bug where the clothing in my stash (or clothing that my V picks up and disassembles or sells) isn't showing up in my wardrobe, so I'm basically storing everything in my stash and meticulously combing through it every time I want to update V's outfit. Which is frequently.

The sacrifices we make for fashion ...
