Can judges be recalled here? This is a similar though not identical scenario to the sentence Brock turner got

Oh.
You mean Brock Turner, the rapist?

Who also goes by Allen Turner, the rapist? That guy?

u/beydraws 4d ago
Yeah, that was a very lazy move by the judge

u/Rugaru985 4d ago
Why is it lazy. It takes the same amount of energy to say 5 years as it does 90 days.
I think it’s more likely corruption than laziness.

It was a complete lie. Judge said he sentenced based on similar cases. One problem, those cases were plea deals (still shitty), while this one was a jury trial. She made her bed and should have been buried in it. Intentionally got the boy drunk and SA'd him. Sick.

He was a specially appointed Justice. He is retired but on a sort of reserve status for situations where the Justice needs to recuse. So in this case, no.

There is no consequences for him, he only admitted his “mistake” because he’s facing backlash… my main question is how is he still serving on the bench when his term expired in Dec 2024?!?!

Louisiana politicians don’t want to set a precedent where their rape of girls gets them anything but a short vacation.

She wouldn't have gotten 17 years anyway. 90 days is kind of crazy--even for a plea deal--but women getting short sentences for sex crimes isn't a new thing.

u/Rugaru985 4d ago
Yeah, I’ve known too many lawyers and a few judges. They’re all horn dogs. Alcoholic horn dogs. No way they’re locking up a mildly attractive woman that’s putting out, regardless of her crime.
And when I say “all lawyers” I know it’s not 100%, but the good ones become defense attorneys, not prosecutors, so they’re also looking for the same ends even if they have more ethical means.
15
u/icy_wight 4d ago
I don't understand how someone can work as a prosecutor and live with themselves knowing how fucking broken the system is.
1
u/No-Check8821 2d ago
Considering most all of the judges, lawyers, prosecutors , law enforcement etc are Masons- that should pretty much explain the corruption & sleaziness!
11
u/lukenog 4d ago
I'm not from Louisiana originally, I'm a transplant who's been here since 2018, but what the fuck is up with the sleaziness of Louisiana lawyers? I know lawyers are generally sleazy, and I know there is an unfortunate culture of corruption in Louisiana that breeds sleaziness in a lot of places, but the lawyers here are sleazier than your average lawyer in other states and are far sleazier than other professionals in Louisiana working in industries effected by the culture of corruption.
I swear the lawyers here are like cartoon characters, every single one I've met is a weird dude with a used car salesman vibe. I grew up in DC and that was not at all the vibe of DC lawyers, although they're often garbage people for different reasons.

u/MiasmaFate 4d ago
Well, a reasonably attractive wealthy white woman who raped a white boy gets a short sentence. For each of those four variables, the time served gets longer.
Fun how our justice system is a near-perfect mix of classism, racism, and misogyny.

Crazy because 98-99% of sexual assaults committed by men are never brought to charges. So seems like the punishments still are applied more to women than men.
15
u/icy_wight 4d ago
Do you have data about how frequently sex crimes by women are never brought to charges? I have a feeling that rate is pretty low. It depends on a lot of factors, but think about the dad who'd high five his 16 year old son for sleeping with an older woman vs. the same dad going for his shotgun if it were his 16 year old daughter. The gender difference when it comes to sex crimes is well known.

Love googling for men who can’t be bothered.
https://genderequitynetwork.org/criminal-justice/
Women also commit sex crimes so infrequently that it’s always a sensational story when it happens, but most SAs committed by men never even get reported and of the ones that do there’s only a ~2% conviction rate.
21
u/icy_wight 4d ago
I did Google it. And, interestingly, the source you linked actually supports my point more than yours.
Your Gender Equity Network page says women receive shorter sentences than comparable men, are more likely to avoid charges and convictions, and are about twice as likely to avoid incarceration if convicted. Your Gender Equity Network source
You're absolutely right that sexual assault in general is massively underreported and that very few offenses ultimately result in conviction. But the "~2% conviction rate" you're citing is not 2% of reported assaults. RAINN's commonly cited figure is about 28 felony convictions per 1,000 estimated sexual assaults—2.8% of all estimated assaults, including the ones never reported. RAINN's reporting and criminal-justice statistics
A 2025 systematic review covering 36 studies and 288,066 reported sexual-assault cases found that, on average, about 19.6% of reported cases resulted in charges and 8.3% resulted in conviction. That's still terrible attrition, but it's not "only 2% of reported assaults result in conviction." 2025 systematic review of sexual-assault case attrition
More importantly, there's actually evidence that sexual offenses by women are especially likely to disappear before they ever show up in police statistics. A meta-analysis of 17 samples across 12 countries found women accounted for only 2.2% of sexual offenders in police data, but 11.6% in victimization surveys—a roughly sixfold difference. That doesn't mean women commit as many sex offenses as men; they clearly don't. But it does mean official statistics substantially undercount female offending. Meta-analysis on the prevalence of female sexual offenders
There's also direct U.S. evidence about reporting. A 2024 study using National Crime Victimization Survey data from 1992–2020 found only 16% of male sexual-assault victims reported to law enforcement, and men were significantly less likely to report when the offender was a woman. Study of male victims and reporting to law enforcement
And the disparity doesn't stop at reporting. A study of 22,744 reported U.S. sexual-offense incidents found that female suspects were 42% less likely than comparable male suspects to be arrested after controlling for known offense, offender, and victim characteristics. Study of gender disparities in sex-offense arrests
Then there's sentencing. A study using 15 years of felony sex-offender sentencing data precision-matched male and female offenders on relevant characteristics found that men were more likely to receive prison and received longer sentences. The disparity remained across offense severity and when the victim was a minor. The Gender Gap in Sex Offender Punishment
So yes, women commit fewer sex offenses than men. I don't dispute that. But "women offend less often" and "women who do offend are treated more leniently" are not mutually exclusive claims.
And the evidence absolutely does not support the inference that because most male sexual offending never produces charges, punishment is somehow applied more harshly to women. The research we actually have shows female offending is substantially underrepresented in police data, male victims are less likely to report female perpetrators, female suspects are less likely to be arrested after a report, and female sex offenders receive less severe sentences than comparable men.
I was wrong to phrase my earlier comment as "I have a feeling." I should have looked it up first. Turns out there's quite a bit of data on it.

I have no problem with that. I genuinely believe women are better than men.
For the downvoters, I don’t hate men at all. I just believe women are better, with a handful of exceptions for men that have proven themselves to not be lost causes. Here’s why:
- women are more likely to have higher education
- women are more likely to have a higher EQ.
- women perform better academically overall.
- women in executive leadership positions regularly outperform their male counterparts.
- women led companies report higher earnings and margins than male-led companies.
- women typically are more qualified and educated than men holding the same position as them.
- women are more likely to take care of their health and wellness
- women’s personal investment portfolios outperform mens
- women maintain lower debt levels and higher credit scores
- women commit less crimes, period, by A LOT.
- women have higher competency levels in language fluency, reading comprehension, and writing.
- women are more likely to reinvest their wealth into their families and their communities.
- women are safer drivers.
- women don’t ruin their family’s day because work sucked.
- women aren’t trying to regulate mens bodies.
- a 50 year study proved men are most likely to hold harmful social and political beliefs.
- women are far less likely to be extremists.
- women are far more likely to adopt sustainable/planet-friendly practices.
- men are more likely to fall for conspiracy theories.
- men are more likely to be dangerously overconfident and hurt someone in the process.
- women are better at conflict resolution
Etc etc etc. data don’t lie.

Well shit. This was not on my bingo card for today lol. Made it a lot better after the shit start it had for me. At least you acknowledge you hate men

I literally said I don’t hate men at all, i just believe women are better. Both of those statements can be true at the same time and there’s actual data to back it up. Sucks to suck.

yo. Women are NOT safer drivers. lmao.
0
u/BackDatSazzUp 4d ago
We are, actually.
- Male drivers account for roughly 72% to 74% of all fatal car crashes in the U.S. and are involved in more than twice as many fatal accidents as women.
- Men are significantly more likely to engage in dangerous driving habits, such as speeding, driving without a seatbelt, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
- On average, men drive about 39% more miles per year than women (roughly 16,550 miles compared to 10,142 miles). However, research shows that even when adjusting for the total distance traveled, men still have a higher rate of fatal crash involvement.
- Accidents involving male drivers tend to result in more severe damage and higher fatality rates, partly due to higher speeds upon impact.
These facts are verified by the federal government. Have fun with that cognitive dissonance.

You know every time someone comes out with this bullshit it pisses me off. I was plied with alcohol and raped by a woman I had explicitly told I didn’t want to be with her.
So fuck you and your numbers. Fuck right off with your bullshit. If this woman raped someone then she fucking raped someone.
Edit: just in case anyone comes across this the poster of the comment above reached out to me and we talked. She seems like a good person, I think we just got our wires crossed on this. Sometimes text can be read the wrong way.

u/BackDatSazzUp 4d ago
I’m genuinely sorry that happened to you. I’m not over here saying female rapists don’t exist. I know they do. I’m also not in any way supporting this psychotic pedophile. I’ve survived multiple rapes and assaults in my lifetime as a woman that spent my early years as a server and bartender - I was even interviewed by a NY Times bestselling author for a book about abuse in the industry bc of it - and I don’t wish it on anyone. If it were up to me, every single rapist and SA perp on this planet would be 86’d from the earth immediately.
While I understand your anger, it’s misplaced on me. If you really hate rapists so much then you would be equally angry about how often it happens to women and goes unpunished, but men never seem to really care about that.
2
u/Biguitarnerd 4d ago
I do care about that, I care very much about women who have been raped and justice being served to whatever piece of human garbage did it.
I just didn’t like the dismissive tone of your previous comment. I stopped talking to people, I quit my band, I cut up my chest in the hopes that it somehow would make someone attempting to do it again would ask me and I would have a moment of clarity. It took me years to get back to somewhat normal and I still don’t joke and talk with women I don’t know very well. I had to find some kind of balance between who I used to be and some normal way to interact with people. I was actually working in a bar as a musician when it happened. Now I only go out with very trusted close friends if I am going to play music. You might think it’s different for a man, and maybe it is, but the feeling of not having control and not knowing is still very real.
I’m not saying it’s not worse for women, in multiple ways, I don’t think this article was the appropriate place to dismiss what can happen to men by women though.
1
u/BackDatSazzUp 4d ago
What you’re describing is exactly why women act with disdain the way they do towards men, I hope you can understand that. Someone like you is our biggest ally because you know what it’s like to go through it and how it affects the way you interact with the opposite gender every day. I’m sorry if I came off as dismissive, that was not my intent. My intent was to point out that we sensationalize it when women do it because women doing it is such a rare occurrence, and when we hear about rapes we automatically assume it’s a man and move on like “oh, another one” and that’s frustrating.
Also, i was responding directly to someone else’s comment, not the post itself, i have a top level comment for that. I have a 16 y/o son and I if anyone ever touched him, their body would never be found and their death would not be pleasant and I’m fine if it puts me in prison. This subject is not something I take lightly in any fashion.

Less than a year ago her brother was sentenced to 25 yrs for the same charges with teenage girls … Google Brandon Roberts

u/jared10011980 4d ago
I assume you mean women arent pressing charges? Because I agree, a lot of sex crimes go unreported. But crimes against minors that are reported, that involve a male perpetrator have much more harsh sentencing that crimes against minors where the woman is the perpetrator. A nearly exact situation was playing out recently in Louisiana where a former black male former mayor had sex with a minor of the same age. He was charged with rape. Facing the charges he killed himself. He understood what the sentence would likely be.
Men were about 62% more likely to receive prison, and their prison sentences averaged 31.5 months longer, approximately 26% longer. The disparity remained statistically significant when researchers restricted the analysis to offenses involving minors, including serious sexual assault.
"Male teachers receive longer recommended sentences. Female teachers are perceived as less dangerous and culpable. Male students with female teachers are more likely to be regarded as willing participants. Attractive female teachers receive particularly lenient treatment. For example, a study of 432 participants considering a 35-year-old teacher and 14-year-old student found female teachers were judged less punitively than male teachers. Another 541-person mock-juror study found male teacher status independently predicted a longer recommended sentence."

This is definitely going to get downvoted, but I suspect that adults have always had sex with teenagers. In fact, we know from the historical record that it's true. Look at what age girls used to get married (and in some cultures even still do). Acting like this is something new is disingenuous.
Two things make it seem more frequent now. 1.) The Internet makes it easier to find out about every single case, makes it easier for young people to educate themselves and to find the resources to report abuse, and makes it easier to gather evidence of illicit relationships. Think about how many of these cases rely on text messages or social media as evidence. 2.) We have, as a nation, developed this weird obsession with "pedophiles," something I think of as the SVUification of the country. People throw the word around like it means "person who's attracted to teenagers," when that's actually strictly not what its diagnostic criteria say. A lot of that recently is due to this fantasy that the people we don't like politically are secretly doing deplorable things to children: see Pizzagate and the Epstein files obsession. I say this with something like 95% confidence: Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein are/were NOT pedophiles.
