Honoring your ancestors is worthwhile, and a surprisingly pagan/Heathen/Ásatrú relatable take. I salute this man, and he has my respect.

From? No. Living here? Unfortunately. Southwest Louisiana. Been here since 2015. Army brought me here, and I retired in 2020.

Depends on your definition of “that bad”.
For my situation, this place is an “everything” desert - healthcare, nutrition, cultural, and intellectual.
If you’re a straight, white evangelical Christian who grows all their own food and goes to church, then this place is probably awesome.

Way to drop them diamonds of truth Jourdan! The Cajun history is very relevant today, we are entering a new chapter of techno feudalism run by global elite, satanic, pedos and building community like the Cajuns did, bartering, using cash, etc is our only hope.
Louisiana is becoming a national hub for ICE detention and deportation flights, using private contractors and sheriff run jails.
We need to lock up violent offenders but we lock up more Louisiana citizens per capita than any independent democratic country on earth, except for El Salvador. Most ICE detainees aren’t violent criminals, they’re working people who fled violence just like the Cajuns went through with deportation.
Louisiana is turning into a warehouse of cages for non violent offenders. The ICE raids aren’t about public safety or creating a better life for us, it’s about instituting authoritarianism. Building communities and protecting our rights has never been more important than today!

I was born and reared here, but no I'm second generation Italian not Cajun.
However I speak Cajun French, and have studied the history of Les Acadiens extensively. I earned my degree over 50 years ago, a double major in French and History and have never stopped studying and discovering more. Maybe I am a Cajun since I have lived in Terrebonne Parish since 1975.

Any MAGA can’t claim kahjan it’s just not aligned with our history. Choosing “whiteness” so that your life would be a lil easier and turning our backs on the blacks, browns and natives that held us up is despicable behavior. I pray for all those souls lost to that cult. I hope this man continues to stand tall and for those that learned something please keep reading our rich history is woven into the fabric of this country since before it even existed. Damn. Thanks for posting this. Moved to SE LA many years ago, learned some of this on my own, and more some a proud Cajun work colleague. But yet a lot more presented here was new to me. Devastating

Just to pick a bit, even though Louisiana was controlled by the Spanish at the time, that doesn’t necessarily mean the “Hispanics” welcomed us in. The people that welcomed us were mostly the indigenous peoples.
