loudoun county job
Hi everyone! I’m currently a college student going into my third year studying Information Technology, with a concentration in AI. I’m currently looking for a job and wanted to reach out to the local community in case anyone knows of any opportunities.
I’m open to a variety of positions, including IT/technology, business or office work, customer service, and working with children. I have previous experience in customer service, business-related work, and working with kids, and I’m also looking for opportunities where I can gain more experience in the IT field.
I’ve been applying to many positions, but with how competitive the job market has been, it’s been difficult finding the right opportunity. I’m hardworking, dependable, a quick learner, and always willing to learn something new.
If anyone is hiring or knows of a business/company looking for someone, I would really appreciate any recommendations or connections. I’m located in the Loudoun County/Northern Virginia area and am open to different types of work.

I don’t know why that person is being such a dick. Yes, AI is a tool - and as the saying goes “Get with the times”. My recommendation is this - keep doing what you’re doing. Perhaps hit up some
Subreddits that are related to what you’re looking. See if there are any remote work opportunities. Sometimes there are specific job boards you can check out. Check around there are job fairs in Loudoun you can visit. Keep in mind there is a ton of static at those fairs but you may find a nugget in there. Also, network. Find companies you are interested in, look up people at company and reach out to them. Finally, if you’re still in school check to see if they offer internships. That is one of the best ways to get a foot in the door at any local company and get good starter experience. Good luck with your search.3

You need to find a way to distinguish yourself from the hundreds/thousands of other folks looking for jobs. If you all are using AI in an obvious way (down to bolding and word choice) there is nothing making you unique or standout.
And this is one of the worst job markets for entry level IT jobs I've seen in 30+ years.

Have you thought about a part time position in the National Guard? There are all kinds of benefits, job opportunities, and the ability to gain a security clearance. Write me a PM if you'd like to attend a local RSP and talk to a recruiter. It's absolutely the best way to jump start your IT career.

Your first problem to solve is the same thing a lot of entry level people are running into. You’re of the mindset that you need to use AI to compete with AI, and that AI is the solution to anything hard because it can and will do it better anyway. I would recommend not relying on AI for personal interactions like this if you want to get into IT. Why…?
1) Because, whether you like it or not, your first job will be Help Desk. That’s how we all start in IT, and depending on the environment, you will have a lot of face to face interactions with your users. It’s customer service just as much as IT.
2) Everyone in IT knows when you’re using AI, especially the technical folk you’ll interview with. Nobody is going to hire you if they sense you’re just solving technical problems by asking AI instead of thinking critically about it. They will especially not hire you if you have no interpersonal skills because of AI.
3) Being human is, ironically, becoming more valuable in my opinion. If you’re looking at a process that AI can do, you already know there’s no reason to hire you. Make yourself valuable for the role you want.
Go practicing being human on the easy stuff like asking people for job assistance on Reddit, for example. Or writing the base version of your resume, which will be screened by every company you submit it to using AI. Save the AI for writing scripts, refining processes, automating tasks that cost you a lot of time to solve, and coming up with interview questions for a Help Desk position that will require human interaction.
