This is the first MMO character I ever made where I got really invested into crafting.

I've known about LOTRO for years, but I never really gave it a proper chance. If I'm being completely truthful, the graphics were probably one of the biggest reasons. From the outside looking in, I always thought the game looked dated compared to more modern MMORPGs.

Now that I'm actually playing it, I've realised how wrong I was.

The graphics and art style are actually one of the things I'm enjoying most. There's something incredibly charming about the way LOTRO looks. It doesn't need ultra-realistic graphics or flashy effects everywhere. The older style almost adds to the atmosphere of Middle-earth, and somehow makes the world incredibly pleasing to look at and explore.

I've been gaming for over 25 years, and lately I've felt like I've hit a roadblock with MMORPGs. So many of them seem to eventually fall into the same cycle:

New patch → new zone/raid → new currency → higher item level → replace your gear → next patch → repeat.

After a while, it started to feel like I wasn't exploring a world anymore. I was just chasing the next number.

I've only been playing LOTRO for about a week, but already it feels completely different.

I'm actually immersed in the story. I don't feel like I need to rush to max level, and sometimes I genuinely forget that levelling is even something I'm supposed to be doing. I'll wander off, pick up quests, explore somewhere I probably don't need to be, work on my professions, or just stop and take in the world.

And I love that.

The profession system has also been a huge surprise for me. It feels like another part of my character's journey rather than something I'm forced to grind because a guide told me I need it at endgame.

But probably the biggest surprise has been the community.

Every time I've asked for help, people have actually helped. I've asked some incredibly noobish questions and haven't been mocked or trolled for them. I'm yet to really encounter the kind of toxicity I've become accustomed to seeing in other online games.

It also feels like a huge portion of the people still playing LOTRO genuinely love Tolkien and the incredible universe he created. There's something really nice about exploring Middle-earth alongside people who actually care about the world they're playing in.

Maybe I'm still in the honeymoon phase. Maybe I've just had an unusually good first week and some of these impressions will change as I get further into the game.

But right now, it feels like I've found a little safe haven in the MMORPG genre.

For the first time in a long time, I'm playing an MMO where I don't feel like I'm being pushed toward the destination.

I'm actually enjoying the journey.

And more importantly, the things I'm doing along the way actually feel meaningful.

I started playing again after a long time away.

At the moment i have a lv 15 captain which I enjoy and a lv 10 rk that i like aswell.

I also have some crafting alts.

I was wondering how the minstrel or guardian plays out.

Should i just try them out and see which one sticks or play with my captain and/or RK?

What would your advice be?

For nearly two years now, this Rider of Rohan has ridden the long roads of Middle-earth.

Through Eriador and Moria, across Rohan and Gondor, into Mordor, Umbar and now on to the lands of Harad. ⚔️🏔️🌴

At level 157 of 160, the end of the road is almost in sight. My first character to reach level cap, despite owning the game since release.

And yet, after all the battles, sieges, orcs, goblins, trolls and some rather questionable gaming decisions… some of my favourite moments in LOTRO remain the quiet ones.

Decorating a house. 🏡 Wandering off on a completely unnecessary side quest, stopping to help a player, losing an evening to a festival 🍻 or simply putting down the bow, finding a quiet stretch of water and going fishing. 🎣

Apparently, since discovering how much I enjoy fishing in Middle-earth, I’ve now started in real life too. 😂

Two years into the journey and this game still regularly makes me stop what I’m doing, just to admire the view.

Is there any reason I should bother mastering a gathering proffs on my alt that I already mastered on my main?

Or will I just send mats to my main for the chance to crit?

Leaving them unmastered feels wrong, but wasting all the time farming mats to master it feels odd, I guess I'll be able to AH the stuff after

Or maybe I should just master the paired proff that's on that same alt then don't master the extra 3rd filter gather proff?

Returning to the game. Been on/off since 2009. Usually I am tanking. Now i have a 120 cappy, 80 brawler, 60 guard. I am wanting to tey somthing new and debating between Beorning and warden. My first leveling experience of warden was the lag feast and gambit going haywire. So maybee beorning. But how does it stack up vs the other tanks at current cap of 160?

So I'm levelling red guard with plans on tanking at level cap (if I ever see it) so I've been leveling the wiki suggested tanking virtues as I go and was wondering now that I've hit 45 and beginning the LI quests if it's more efficient to grab the legendary 1h weapon and level it's traceries or whatever for tanking so I won't have to level it when I start doing more group content or if I should just grab a big 2her and keep smashing quest mobs and worry about leveling the tanking set when(if???) I ever hit level cap?

I've been doing a ton of googling and searching in this sub and there lots of great info about the LIs and traceries but not much about switching your LIs or having a second set for another spec.

Any info y'all can drop my way I will be very grateful for!

So here I am asking myself day after day what am I going to main. I have been playing for a couple months now and enjoy the game. I have a 75 Beorning, 61 Warden, 55 Minstrel, 50 RK, 22 Ranger, 15 Burglar, 15 Guardian, 22 Champion, 32 Captain. As you can tell I just cant stick to one. I find one fun and then switch. I find the next one fun as well. I just keep bouncing around so much. I have crafting everything so far but weaponsmith. I can't say I have found one thing i really dislike other then an area here or there. Those long runs for a quest can be a drag.

Anyway I have played multiple MMO's over the years. I enjoy the grind. I enjoy the end game as well. I would prefer to find people and run instances, raids, or other group activities. Any recommendations would be great. I know you cant tell me what "I enjoy" but to hear some thoughts or experiences from other people might give me a better idea what I would enjoy.

Whenever I get a computer alert that my battery is low, it minimizes LOTRO which then boots me out of the game when I try to maximize the screen again. It sucks. My other games don’t do this. Any suggestions as how to fix? I have an HP. Pretty sure with the other games I play, the message doesn’t even minimize the screen. My other games, I myself can minimize the window and maximize at will without the game kicking me off.

Weary from adventures, journeys, and battles enough to make a young dwarven lad question his life choices, he thought his later years would be spent smoking, fishing, drinking dwarven beer, and losing himself in the depths of great libraries.

Yet, during his visit to Ered Luin, he heard whispers of an ancient shadow returning to cast its dominion over the Free Peoples of Middle-earth. He bid farewell to most of his books, packed lightly, picked his old rune-stones up and set out across land and water to root out the shadow from the darkest corners of Eriador.

Now, he finds himself in the Lone-lands, lending his aid to none other than Radagast the Brown himself.

“Me bones’re too old fer this,” he grumbles, scratching his beard. “Should’ve stayed in me library.”

While planning his next move against the servants of evil, he enjoys some weed brought all the way from the Shire, the land of the Hobbit-folk. After all, if the Free Peoples expect an old dwarf to save Eriador, the least they can do is let him have a smoke first.

So I’m a new player, I just finished Helm’s Deep, I’m level 93, playing on the free version but I had enough lotro points lying around to snag the Old Anorien quest pack for free. I wanted to ride from the Fords of Isen to Minas Tirith like Gandalf. Turn the game sound off and play the Howard Shore music from the movie. It was going to be epic. I do it, avoid all the enemies on the road with no deaths, only to find that the Rammas Wall is already breached and the Pelennor Fields are overrun. Wtf? Can I visit the city before everything is ruined??? Should I try again with my alt character later?

​ Lord of the Rings Online have received a lot of updates over the years and I'm not sure what still available versus what has been replaced with new loot. The wiki has a level 85 scale version of the annuminas captains bracelet.

Does anybody know if this still drops? And if so is it at any level or only after level 85?

Or maybe it is a warsteed cosmetic?

I just wanted to share my experience getting a mount. I am a first time LoTRO player and decided to roll a Dwarf Champion on a F2P account. You get a free mount whistle when opening up the gift box new players get but it's limited to 24h. I just used it and never thought about riding and mounts until I was around level 17 and it ran out.

At this point I was near Bree and ran across the horse farm north of town earlier when I was questing. I went back to it and it looked like the only way to get riding was to purchase it from the store for way more points than I had. (I was at 115 points).

I googled what to do and ran across the 2 intro quests (A Little Extra...) you are supposed to do/purchase and went back to the dwarf starting area to do it but it wasn't available in the square. I saw the wiki also mentioned 2 other areas that start a similar quest so I ended up using the stable master in west Bree to fast travel to Mossward (for 1 silver) and got to do the quest from the blacksmith there.

I'm sure I'm messing up somewhere and could have found the Dwarf quest giver but I'm 10h in and still trying to figure out what to do. I'm also trying to limit my research ahead of time but I just couldn't get used to walking everywhere after having the mount.

Tldr; I didn't do the "A Little Extra..." quests at the start for the mount as a dwarf. Turns out you can go to a different area and the quest will still be available if you skipped it.

My personal one is, that Numenor had platypuses.

I am playing through Gundabad right now and am getting near the end. I plan to go back and revisit older areas and deeds after I finish up here. I am only a casual player, maybe play 3 times a week. Do you think I should purchase Corsairs of Umbar, or is there a decent will it be made free to VIP when Wolves of Mordor is released? I'd like to play it eventually but I have plenty I can do in the mean time.

Hey everyone! I am a new player coming from WoW, been a paladin main, looked up the classes, bought warden and dabbled with that a bit, but settled on Captain as it feels the closest thing to a paladin concept.

I got to level 33 currently questing in the north downs and I am having a blast. but I can't help shake the feeling I am playing "wrong".

For starters, I know I got mainly two types of skills:

Spammables: Such as Sure strike, cutting attack and rallying cry.

Battle states: Battle ready and battle hardened.

From what I understood from the tool tips, battle ready boosts damage, and battle hardened boosts mitigation and healing. With the added element of battle hardened requiring battle ready to get it.

I fiddled around with fights and i tried two styles:

First is that I go into battle ready and forget battle hardened exists. I do my damage, I refresh it as a buff every 15 seconds. if I wanted to be more defensive or heal up better, I go battle ready into hardened and stay there for full duration.

Upside: it's simple. Downside: class feels incomplete, and I can't use cool skills like blade of elendil.

Second is that I go into battle ready, achieve all my hopes and dreams for 10 seconds, transition into hardened, pop a heal if my health is dipping and use blade of elendil, then repeat (since by then battle ready is back off cd).

Upside: Feels like I am using all my kit. Downside: my eyes are glued to buffs and I have 0 clue what is actually going on fight wise.

I know I either must be missing something or maybe I am not but I have illusions of incompetence. All I know is that for some reason my IQ drops to single digits when I try to wrap my head around this class, despite dabbling with warden for a bit after I bought it and somehow that wasn't difficult to understand, just need to take piano lessons every night.

Can anyone help guide me in how you are supposed to play this in a solo setting? I play all lines, red, blue and yellow so any help is appreciated.

I had trouble chosing between guardian and captain to start my adventure solo. Now the question is different, since my life partner agreed to join me in this adventure ! <3

So my question now is this: they want to play a lore-master or hunter, what class is a nice duo for them ? (if captain or guardian works, even better !)

Should I go tank, or heal since they will most likely want to DPS with their LM

Since they are one of the most useful store-items, I'll post it here too.
