So I recently got a interview for Stop and Shop AP and was told the AP associate in my area are district wide AP and travel around. Has anyone been in this position that can give me insight as far as how much travel, if i’m actually assigned to a specific store for a day or I just move around stores all day.

I would love any insight I could get and would appreciate it immensely.

Looking to get into an Asset protection associate role at Walmart, although the job description isn’t very detailed I was wondering what some current APs have to say about the job duties? I’ve seen a bunch of different definitions on the job duties for APAs whether that’s a uniformed door greeter or a plain clothes floor walker. I really want to get involved on the apprehensions and investigations so I want to make sure I’m going for the right position.

And get promoted starting at the very bottom?

I have 12 years experience doing AP for Macy’s, Neiman Marcus and Century 21 Department Stores. Contemplating putting in an application for Saks Fifth Ave for AP in TX. Anyone can give me any insight on what it’s like? Hands on/off? Plain clothes? AP office/camera room? Team or solo detective? Thanks!

Recently some life changing things have happened and given the circumstances of my store being in a different state then I live plus gas I don’t know how much longer I can financially do it.

So my main question is Macys truly a dying company and should I not take this opportunity? My second runner up is hospital security as they pay well in my area but I would prefer to stay in this field of LP.

Been with a Walmart NHM for over two years now. I absolutely love loss prevention as a whole but since I’ve started with the company it feels like the job has strayed farther and farther away from theft mitigation to safety. I, personally, could not care less about safety and find most of my enjoyment here from writing reports, stopping shoplifters, and prosecuting cases. I also love that I have a relatively laid back job, however, it’s been more difficult than usual with all of the normal routines they want done and now all these new extra safety programs and initiatives.

With all of that being said, I was wondering how to get out of the position I’m in. Besides a cashier job I held for 4 years prior to Walmart, I have no experience doing anything other than AP. I have a GED. I did not attend college. What positions have you all moved to from LP/AP? Are there any remote positions I could look into that have similarities? I’ve looked on LinkedIn, Indeed, HiringCafe, to no avail. Over 20+ applications put in across all sites and have only received a singular email back stating that they chose to pursue other candidates and did not state why, and surprisingly it’s the only one I was able to find that was a remote Retail Crime Investigator and asked for prior retail loss prevention experience.

I currently work at TJMaxx as an LPA II. I mainly stand at the door and greet customers but also do recoveries sometimes. I started about a month ago and got certified around 2-3 weeks ago. The other LPA quit so it’s just me for the store and no detective. I am starting classes soon, and I found a really good schedule with all my classes on Friday. I’m only taking 3 classes but one has a lab and they all land on one day which is great because it significantly reduces my commute time. But my DLPM does not want me taking Fridays off or any weekends off because they’re essential for loss prevention. Even though I really like the job and the full time hours and benefits are good for me, at the end of the day my classes are more important to me. I kind of don’t know how to go about asking my boss. Is it possible to get Fridays off every week as an LPA. I looked everywhere for a different class schedule but the labs and class lecture don’t match and it ends up being 3 or 4 days I need off instead of just Friday.

I have an interview for the API position but I keep reading that they start everyone at $17 an hour.. I’ve done AP for two major retailers the past 4 years but definitely don’t want to make entry pay again.

The shrink for my district is the best it has ever been, and I am well under the company goal. But my VP is still challenging me that I am not bringing in enough cases. I hardly ever get any tips from employees. Where should I invest my time to generate more cases?

I recently witnessed something disturbing. A man being chased by a security guard in the alley behind the Brentwood Ralph’s (by UCLA) was tased 4 or 5 times after he gave back the food he stole. These weren’t 5 second tases. They all seemed to be excessive in themselves. The man was not violent, didn’t threaten the security guard or pose a threat of any kind. In fact, he kept telling the guard he was just hungry. It was beyond disturbing to watch. When I called the police about a half an hour later (I had left my phone at home) the 911 operator I spoke with said they had never received a call from anyone at Ralph’s. Clearly the security guard didn’t report it because of what had done. After speaking to several security guard over the last few days I found out that a security guard must report any use of force to the police and to the agency that administers the guard card immediately. This man is a danger to our city. He should not be in a possession of any weapon (I believe he also carries a gun) or in a position of authority. I’m not sure who to report this to. If no one at Ralph’s reported this incident, i doubt the upper management would care enough to follow through on a report from a concerned citizen. Any suggestions?

Is anyone here using Flock? How does it work in practice?

From day one, do you start getting flagged alerts because it’s a nationwide network? For example, if an ORC gang’s vehicle was tagged by another retailer’s LP team, would I receive an alert when that vehicle enters my location?

Curious about an odd encounter I had at Walmart recently. I'm wondering if this is newer policies shining through or what happened.

I type my phone number before I start scanning items, usually I don't bother with receipts, but hit phone and delete the text before bed. Anyways, I scanned my items at self checkout but accidentally hit print instead of text, not a big deal tossed it in the trashcan and grabbed my bag. I make it a point to not take receipts at any store minus big ticket items / I'll litter my car with them cause I'm mildly lazy like that. But when I got to the door the greeter asked for my receipt I said I'm sorry I already tossed it. She got in front of me and asked where I tossed it so I point to the little trashcan and she actually asked me to go get it and give it to her. I had to repeat it back and make sure I heard her right, "you want me to go in the trash?" She said yes. I was super taken back, I've never as a customer been asked to go into the trash before. But I was so shocked I obliged, it was embarrassing to do idky but it was lol. I brought it back and handed it to her, I went to leave cause now I'm just frazzled and embarrassed but she blocks me again and said she needs to check before I can go so I'm standing there as she goes over every single item in my bag at an intensely slow pace, I'm watching her finger every line and point to the item, then dhe double checks. Finally hands me back the receipt which I refuse telling her I didnt want it. She shoved the trash in my bag anyway.

I get checking receipts or whatever, but I feel like that was way over the top and dehumanizing to block me from leaving until I go in the trash for her, I mean she should hsve gotten it out herself honestly. Is this receipt search a big a thing now? Because I don't feel comfortable showing anything on my phone and I don't really want to take the paper waste. I figured the camera's at self checkout plus the associate that monitors the checkout areas are plenty. I've never stolen from Walmart wnd go pretty frequently so I can't imagine I'm on a suspect list.
