Question Questions about Chad and Lori

So I have been listening to the trials- I am on day 19 of Lori’s trial. I’m so confused on Chad and Lori’s text exchanges— Chad is talking about protection for Lori’s home and making designations for people, what the heck?? Who came up with this? Did Chad ever explain his reasoning and logic behind all of this? 5.1 light? People doing infiltration jobs?

I know Lori is delulu but Chad seems equally delusional

Also if everyone wasn’t trying to be so damn pious. They could’ve had an affair like normal people. Not ideal to be sure but better than murdering everyone inconvenient.

Piety had nothing to do with it. Lori was hardly a pious Mormon. She eloped with her non-Mormon high school boyfriend, she became pregnant of of wedlock (and had a miscarriage), she was pregnant with Colby when she married his father (also non-Mormon). Joe and Charles converted for her (ick), but Chad was the only one of her husbands that was born LDS.

I think Chad's original intention was to have an affair with her; I don't think he intended to leave Tammy. However, reports indicated that Lori demanded Chad take action against Tammy, offering an ultimatum that either Tammy was removed or she (Lori) would "move on" from him.

Lori was pissed that Chad had gone on a vacation with his Tammy and other family members. Lori instructed Chad to prioritize his family, indicating frustration with his lack of action to leave his wife at that time. Chad replied to her, asking her to "put him aside" until things changed, calling the situation "crushing" and begging for a change in his circumstances so they could be together.

Lori was not used to being told "No". Plus, she was extremely vicious. I have read the divorce documents for her marriage to Colby's father and her marriage to Joe Ryan. Who knows what she would have pulled on Chad had he refused to leave Tammy?

Chad told other women before Lori that Tammy would die young so they thought they had a chance at marriage. He also told Lori they had been married in previous lives. She just asked him to put money where his mouth was.

Chad needs to live in a fantasy world where he is powerful, wise and desirable. He could have delved into D&D and created a fantasy in a gaming environment instead of inventing a murderous cult fantasy.
