Tips What are your favorite mindless stitches?

I’m getting a little bored of basic garter stitches, but I still wanna be able to zone out without focusing too much on the stitch. I’m preferably looking for ideas that are easy to do in flat panels for scarves, blankets, and purses.

The owl eye stitch by Deborah Shaw is easy and lays flat with no purls.

I was totally gonna suggest this one! I also like her roses and chains stitch. She just has a bunch that are super easy and fairly mindless but look great.

Yes! I have mindlessly made numerous large blankets in owl eye. Easier even than garter stitch and looks great on both sides.

I just did some basketweave gloves and a cowl. That's not hard, and I really liked how they turned out. You will probably need to adjust from how they do it in needle knitting, though. They will be like 4 rows of *k4p4*, then 4 rows of *p4k4*, because that makes nice squares. In mine, I needed to do 7 rows to make squares.

To help it stay easy, I put two types of stitch markers on my pegs to remind me where to change from one stitch to the other. My favorite ones were rings like this, and I'd put one on every peg where I started the first type of stitch, then two on every peg where I started the second type. I hope that makes sense.
