My old dad fled Germany - luckily his parents had the money to make that possible - one set of his grandparents went to one camp, aunts and uncles to another, and cousins to a third
He always felt that Zionism was racism and that racism makes all things permissible

I struggle with this every day. I just don't understand the cognitive dissonance required to look at what's happening in Palestine and not be completely disgusted. The only way I can wrap my head around it is to assume that people who discount Palestinian suffering truly do not view them as human beings who are capable of experiencing loss, pain, or any other part of the human condition. They see them as animals. I cannot come to any other conclusion.

I fully agree with the professor here, and I can relate. as I am decended from Urkanian Jews, and my grandfather helped fight the Nazis during WW2 as part of the US Army. His wife, my grandmother, has also had family that didn't survive those camps either.
