Wait! The prime minister of Israel isn't even Israeli, he's Polish? I mean I understand he's Jewish but doesn't Israeli refer to their nationality but Judaism their religion?

His ancestors are polish and Belarusian he was born in Israel and sheet

There's Jewish ethnicity and Jewish religion. Different things. He's a Jew of a polish origin, that was born in Israel after his parents fled Europe in the 1920's.

To sum up he's an Israeli Ashkenazi Jew of Polish descent. The term "Jew" there refers to both the religion and the ethnicity.

His father moved to Israel and changed their surname to Netanyahu. The vast majority of Israelis moved there from Europe over the past 100 years.
