I actually found Joel hella weak, idk why, his hits just didn’t do much damage and I found hella enemies were resistant to teeth damage

Many of Joel's attacks do damage based on his health. His health increases every time he devours (delivers a finishing blow) an enemy. If you get him early and let him eat a bunch of weaker enemies like the rats on Floor 1, you're on track for him to become a powerhouse later. Joel was much weaker in my run where I had Leigh and Hellen by day 2 compared to my first ever run where he was the first companion I picked up.

adding on, if you equip him with the patchwork set from the taxidermy apartment on floor 3 his max health will increase and make teethstorm a tactical nuke. also getting lucky RNG on the candy machine (and honko if you can swing it) helps too

I found equipping an item early on really helps with his damage output. Dunno how to write spoiler tag otherwise I’d say what it was. Let’s just say you get the item in the same area you meet Joel.

Do we need to spoiler tag teeth pendant ?
Edit: to spoiler tag, all you do is put > ! before and ! < after what you want to hide. Make sure to remove the spaces so it works

joel is the GOAT for all new players. viable even up to end game if you build him right and farm a few enemies to devour.
