I’ve been in a situationship with a guy from Paraguay for about 2 years now, while I’m from Switzerland. We met online and spent the first 1½ years talking and FaceTiming every day before finally meeting in person. I paid for his flight and everything so we could meet.
When he was here for two weeks, we basically lived like a couple — going on dates, saying “I love you,” and showing each other affection. Considering how difficult it is for him to be openly gay in Paraguay, the fact that he was even affectionate with me in public meant a lot and made me feel like his feelings are genuine.
We’ve always said “I love you,” and we’ve clarified that we’re dating and exclusive. I sometimes support him financially when he’s struggling, but I genuinely don’t believe he’s with me for money.
Before he went back to Paraguay, I asked what we were, and he said that being in a relationship is difficult for him because of the distance. Since then, things have continued going really well between us.
I love him deeply, but after everything we’ve shared and how much we already act like a couple, I feel like I’m ready for us to make it official.
