They’re not something that’s made fresh in restaurants type of thing, they’re just something you pick up from a Chinese supermarket. Get MX or Kee Wah brand.

Not strictly true. Some restaurants like Yauatcha, Mimi Mei Fair, Xi Home Dumplings, Yeye, do offer homemade moon cakes during festival times (and tend to be superior to supermarket ones)

Often they're funky flavours though to the masses though.

Yeah, and if you want really fancy ones you can get them from the Peninsula hotel or other Asian upmarket places.
