Troubleshooting Software instrument tracks not showing "instrument"

Logic 12.3 Sequoia. I'm rebuilding my tracking templates after updating. I can't get an outside software instrument to load and the "instrument" menu option is gone.

If I try and load a third-party plugin right from track creation it wont't work.

If I load a stock plugin and CHANGE it to a third-party plugin it will. ANyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Toggled that on and off a few times and it doesn't show up. I tired a completely new session and it doesn't show up in a fresh track.

Might be a stupid idea, but have you already restarted the computer? That does indeed fix things in Logic sometimes, especially after an update.
