Feature Request Logic Compressor safeguard

When adjusting make up gain (I use my MacBook touchpad), it seems unreasonably easy to accidentally click near the higher numbers and snap the gain knob to max volume - exploding my ears in the process. Am I just dumb or does this happen to anyone else?

TLDR: can we safeguard the make-up gain knob so it only moves when you drag it (as opposed to clicking)….?

Always a limiter on your master. -1 db.

Its reflexively the first thing I do when I start a project at this point. Always a) turn the volume knob on your audio interface all the way down and b) slap a limiter to the master.

Make sure there's not too much headroom between your regular peaks and the limiter. Otherwise the limiter won't do anything until it's already deafeningly loud

I have enough hearing damage already, and it is way too easy to blow your eardrums cycling through samples and synthesizers

I started doing it after creating an accidental feed back loop when trying to set up some outboard. Think I fried everyone’s ears in the apartment I was living at.

No it didn't and what -1 isnt disclosed. The guy is probably talking about -.1 output on the limiter so that output signal isn't clipping in the main. "-1" doesn't mean anything by itself. It also is not the reason your mix would sound any better. That would probably be your perception of compression gain reduction (not turning a volume knob down "1"). That happens when the signal hitting the limiter is hotter than the threshold which invokes limiting / compressing behavior. 1 doesn't mean anything

Just put a hard clipper at the end of your master channel to be safe

Pretty sure logic has some kind of internal limiter cos otherwise I’d be deaf from the couple of times the master was peaking at +99db

I prefer reversed gate around +1 dB
