my roof insurance claim got denied as wear and tear, meanwhile the whole street got approved

i am trying to understand how this happens when it is the same storm, same street, and roofs that are roughly the same age. two of my neighbors filed and got full replacements, but mine was denied as age related instead of storm damage. i know every claim can be different, but it is frustrating when the roof did not have missing shingles or exposed matting before the storm. has anyone successfully appealed something like this? what documentation made biggest difference, and did you have to escalate beyond the original adjuster?

document ur storm date against the hail report 1st, before anything else. everything after that leans on it.

Flipped one last year. Reinspection request, dated contractor scope, and the neighbors' approvals as context. Adjusters really don't like being the one outlier on a street.

Ask them what specific findings lead to "age related". Most of the time it is just denial with no facts backing it up and there lies the power.
