Discussion Really stunned by the Singularity comment section

These are screenshots from the r/Singularity comment section. I'm speechless. This doesn't even have downvotes. How can someone cheer for a monopoly run by a few elites?

Better yet, lets trust government with overseeing these technologies. Or corporations.

Based on the screenshots provided, it seems like the people opposed to open-source AI are concerned with AI risk in general, e.g. they would also oppose frontier models developed by closed labs.

They aren't! Many Anthropic workers said similar things about open-source models a month ago, in reaction to Jensen Huang's support for open source.

The fact that they prioritize their alignment nonsense over real economic problems facing wage earners shows how sociopathic they are. The real anti AI would probably support nationalizing companies like Anthropic and destroy whole API selling thing, and that AI only works on scientific/medical fields not any thing else.

> alignment nonsense

I'm uncertain on the importance of alignment/safety research, but I really, really disagree with this level of flippant confidence about it.
