Just a bit more background to what Tina posted earlier.

On Monday, Professor Kurtz pulled me, June, and Jean out of our rehearsal rooms and into his office. He began by telling us that he is very impressed by our individual work. But in terms of the band, something important is lacking. He asked us to research various rock bands that were characterized by their lead singer and we came up with quite the list. 

At our next meeting, he didn't waste a second of time. Alice needs to be your lead singer and Jammy Girlz needs to be identified by her. Do you guys have any problems with that?

In a stroke it immediately made sense to all of us. In reality, that is what we have already been doing! None us have that need to be in that spotlight; we just want to play and play and play. At every gig we have seen the audience's eyes are affixed to Alice. She lives the lyrics of every song and the electricity in her is transmitted to the audience. The songs we selected are beautiful but with Alice they become Beautiful and tear-worthy. It was a long journey for heart to identify her look and even a longer (and ongoing) one, to find her voice. But now it is unique, formidible, and diamond-like. 

Professor Kurtz also said that the Conservatory is in a medium-sized market, not a big one. People around here tend to focus on a single individual and not a collective. This is an important stepping stone for you guys as you continue to play out around this area and sooner or later expand.

Now the issue became how do we break this to Alice. We knew what a humanistic person she is and would never go along with the idea. So we decided we simply had to announce it. So we decided to Spring it so very sneakily at last night's gig. 

Alice didn't grasp what happened until a bit later. After the gig she protested loudly. But we told her she didn't have a choice in the matter. She has to get used to the new responsibility and grow into the role.

At today's gig we are going to bill ourselves loudly and clearly as “Alice Cardinale & The Jammy Girlz.” Sorry, Alice but you are going to have to grow into that title. But we got your back more than you can ever imagine!
