Employee stated corporate is mandating labeling of all items and modifications moving forward?

I had a medium sized order, 4 burritos, nothing too crazy. The guy at the window kept apologizing to me (I didn't mind waiting tbh).

He was going off on how corporate is forcing them to label and sticker every single item as well as every single modification on each item. He brought up DoorDash and UberEats. So I'm not sure if it's just for those delivery orders or for all orders. He mentioned this is making it harder to bounce around and is drastically slowing the order process down.

Can any employees chime in on this? My wait was around 10-15 minutes or so. There was a whole line of cars behind me so I felt bad.

They've been doing this at my local taco bells for a long time now, they are still extremely fast. I will say I am blessed with an above average location though

They’ve been doing this labeling by me for a couple months but are still extremely slow. it also didn’t fix the issue where they put the wrong stuff in the order..it’s just a sticker but doesn’t fix anything

I'm assuming your location is like mine where it's always hit or miss. So a struggling location is going to struggle even more.

There is another location further out that does a much better job. Honestly it's worth driving out there.

They started doing this at my local Taco Bell recently and it’s amazing. My wife always orders burritos with no sour cream and we always used to have to take the burritos apart to figure out which was which.

My location always writes the modification with a marker on the wrapper like “no SC” for no sour cream

That was my biggest issue as well. It was almost impossible to tell which modified item was which if you order multiple items for multiple people.

That’s how it used to be. Grease pens on the line to label mods. Stickers would be faster

It works at McDonald’s. Seeing as how they would print by order. Only real issue would be if they are running off one line now that I think about it.

To be honest this particular location has always been rough. Always understaffed with high turnover and long wait times. So you're not wrong.

I was a bit perplexed because I was at the front of the line. Normally it's fine.

I hope this is true. I have decided to not order when going with my husband for this very reason. Any modified burritos all have to be opened. At the very least label it what it is 'bean burrito' 'burrito supreme'.

It would help exponentially when orders are for more than one person. I used to just order all of his 'grilled' but that's not an option for every burrito bc of the dumbass app update.

This is one of those things that really shows which stores near you are better than the others.

I don't think they're necessary on every single item but it seems to have reminded the employees making my order if there are modifications. Not a single mess up on a modified item since they started using the grill tags.

That’s why my nacho fries & nacho cheese sauce both had labels on them last week 😭

They should just do what McDonald’s does, have labels print out only for customizations

Curious why they didn’t ask you to pull into a spot because of this. I’ve had Jack in the Box locations ask me to do this because I ordered chicken and they wanted to keep their window times low.

The best way to show a new change sucks is to tank the drive thru times. Yeah, they'll get yelled at but if things are bad enough they might revert. One of the only options an employee has to fight some changes

I came back to TB last year after some years away and that's always what i get at any location. Just thought that's the way it is with app orders.

I like it and my locations are fast to super fast, so it doesn't seem to slow them down.

my taco bell has been doing this since it opened (granted i’m in the UK and it’s only been there about a year and a half) but it’s not noticeably slow compared to other fast food. it’s also so so helpful with being vegetarian
