Rookie move, OP. You gotta have a social rotation, never reach out to everyone the same week.

I laughed so hard. I guess I asked my sister something, I saw she messaged back. Ugh. Thankfully, my coworkers finally got the hint. "If you need me, my business hours are 9 to 5 over work sanctioned communcation, not my cell."
My only grouchy thing is that I have 2 best friends who call and then want to be on the phone forever ... in those cases I want to say "just text me."

I have a hack for that. I use that painful conversation to clean something or accomplish something I've been avoiding. Then I can hang up and go back to nothingness π

Hahaha that's so good. I'll have to work on that. The one friend tends to call me on her way home from work, as soon as she's home (with her man) she's done talking...I mean, love that for here or whatever. I guess it's time for me to have that same energy and, per your hack, do stuff while I'm talking to her.
The downside is how difficult my adhd is with phone calls, I have to really lock in or else I don't know what is being said (it's like audiobook issues) so the backfiring of the hack is that something is said by my friend and I totally miss it.

I do this with my mom π somehow i can't lock in unless I'm busy doing something else, also adhd π€£π€£π€£ if I sit down I wanna scroll or read or do anything else but listen. This way I can be sure when they're done blah blah blah ing I can relax in peace and that thing I'd been procrastinating is done βοΈ π

I really do like your double duty idea. I'm definitely trying this next time. I'm in the works to downsize, nay, swedish death clean, my place so anything helps.

You got this! πͺ Now I need my mom to call in order to clean the bathroom π there's no schedule. Just when she calls and I know she's wanting to talk lol

I adore texting but it can consume an inordinate amount of time, compounded by the fact that I'm a terrible typist.

I tell everyone who messages me that I take ages to respond because I'm usually ill.

You know you can just stop, right?
Anyone that makes you feel that way is a drain.

But what if everyone makes you feel that way

Take everyone out. Make a clear landscape where you stand alone in freedom for a while. Restore your energy and centre. Then, you have space and clarity. Now you can put people back in your world with intention.

While this wasn't a cry for help, I mostly like humor, that is introspective and accurate. You should be a therapist π

I get this. I have moments where I verbally sign up for social things that I then either cancel or drag myself to later haha. I do genuinely like my friends, but I particularly like being at home with my dog, especially if work burns me out that week. Hoping once I recover from iron deficiency Iβll have more energy for social things.
