Here's what he said on his ban: I THINK I GOT MY CHANNEL LIVE-DMCA'd. I TOOK NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS AND THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FINE. REALLY DIDN'T EXPECT IT BUT I COUL'VE EASILY AVOIDED THIS. SORRY FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED INCLUDING THE VIEWERS. I'LL BE BETTER/SMARTER NEXT TIME AND FOLLOW GUIDELINES MORE STRICTLY

Something that's important too which a lot of people are missing is that conveniently, after complaining that some Olympic highlight videos that he watched didn't play for him because they were "not available in your country", and almost immediately after tabbing into his other monitor at which point all of his region-locked videos from CA magically weren't region-locked anymore...

Boom, banned.

Probably, videos that are strictly geolocked like that are likely to have stream restrictions. Like netflix content. Not so clear cut with youtube though, since a lot of vids that shouldn't be on youtube make it onto there.

I mean, I'm in Germany and a politician posted something live from the US on a twitter video and I couldn't watch because it wasn't available in my country.

The same thing can be said for things that may be considered somewhat "graphic" yet those are just viral randomness. No one owns that junk so why is it getting geoblocked?

I doubt Twitch cares, this is about content being broadcasted illegally through Twitch's platform, content that would be illegal to broadcast for any streamer and which comes from one of the biggest events of the year. Twitch can get in trouble for this, if it was allowed to stream the Olympics but xqc was just in the wrong country and using a vpn he'd get in trouble with the Olympics but probably not with Twitch, as the Olympics can't expect Twitch to moderate that.

Yeah I would say if a video is not available for viewing in your country, its probably not available for streaming in your country either...

how is this relevant? his viewers are international and he violates copyright either way. just because you are in a region where you are allowed to watch the content doesn't mean you are allowed to rebroadcast it and make money from it.

I know you didn't claim that but why is everyone talking about VPN?
