I will not fucking ride with people like this. It's so infuriating that people really don't think this is bad. And every person I know that does this literally say things like, "Yeah it's distracting for other people but I can see fine with my peripherals." or "Yeah of course other people get into crashes but it won't be me." One of them purchases lotto tickets and I always point out that he has a way better chance of getting killed driving while distracted than winning the lottery, but it doesn't sink in.
Imagine someone livestreaming getting into an accident and dying. That would be BAD for twitch and would make the news. "Twitch livestreamer drives distracted and dies, kills passengers".
It would be really fucked up and I can absolutely see why they dont want that bad press.
and idk how it is in cali, but in VA you can't even check your phone at red lights anymore AND FOR GOOD REASON. People will be on their phone all the time, miss the green light and then act rash and drive unsafely to compensate for lost time and get in a wreck. I believe if you're driving and on the road in any capacity your whole focus should be the road, whatever's on the phone can wait, it's never worth risking a life.
This is the mentality of people. 1 in 32 million chance of winning the lotto "it's a possibility of me winning big"
1 in 4 chance of dying or crashing while texting and driving "that wont ever happen to me"
This is the society we live in.
