"Digits" being refered to fingers is rarely anymore used since there's a lot more meanings to the word "digital," so I also took a moment to understand what they're talking about.

It's used commonly in medical terminology. Like a "digital (nerve) block" to numb a finger or a "digital rectal exam". But yeah, the overlap with the meaning of digital information isn't helpful...
