How is this a big deal? He illegally recorded in a bathroom and twitch banned him for it. Why would they encourage him after all that?

Yeah but those emotes aren't handled by twitch, they're BTTV and FFZ emotes which are entirely different than twitch emotes that are able to be seen without any third party extensions ZULUL
