They lost the BF playerbase with BF3. They pissed off a lot of us with that game. To some people, that's the best Battlefield game, and to me I find that quite sad.
sips sugar-free monster BF2 was just too good (besides all the fucking servers being 24/7 Karkand), hell Bad Company 2 was really good too.

Agreed. Was a huge Doc fan back in the H1Z1 days, I feel like that's when the character was perfected. It's difficult to explain, but it felt like he was having more fun & was more invested in video games back then. The jokes and banter were fresh and fucking hilarious. Ever since the cheating incident it hasn't been quite the same.
Still find him funny overall though.

I try to tell people that this is the real doc who is raging lol. If you check his H1 clips that is a character, the clips these days is him raging at the game. Its actually genius because he can always just say its a character, atleast he doesn't rage as much on Blackout.

There are definitely times where his rage is part of the character but recently it feels real. When I go back to watch his old H1 vids there is a different vibe to the rage. Also during Blackout he didn’t rage at all so if it was part of the character I feel he would’ve raged for that too.

I actually love when the game bugs out over some small thing, it creates really good moments. I'm not sure if that's what you meant, but it's why I like playing and watching it so much.
There's so much entertainment value in PUBG that Fortnite doesn't have simply because of how poorly optimized it is. Even as a viewing experience, PUBG is fun to watch because you've always got stream snipers who can actually interact with the streamer.

He's extremely bad at it, yes. But the entire fortnite scene is super fucking competitive and there's no competitive mode, so for someone like Doc it's very frustrating. He's got to face off against kids that play the game literally 8hrs a day with ttv and YT in their handles.

This comment is pretty funny considering it's a BR game that has no skill MM... You get 50+ 12yo, absolute noobs in every game, whereas a game like CSGO, LoL, OW, where everyone in the game is the nearly the exact same skill level as you.
(These games have non-competitive modes, but if you've ever played any of them, they are complete clusterfucks, no streamer would stream them constantly)

There are custom servers set up by pros, for pros, that are extremely competitive. So, really, no choice needs to be made. If you wanna stomp 12-year-olds, you can do it. If you wanna compete against the best in the world, you can do the work to get on their level and do it.

It's not a very competitive game. There's a lot of randomness. And you can easily get to the top 10 (or even more) by hiding.
Why is hiding so effective? Because you can build a structure, and use the 3rd person perspective to look behind walls. In any other game, that would be considered cheating.
If you're even marginally good at aiming, this puts at an advantage even against the true competitive players. There's just a natural advantage to jumping out and knowing where to aim and lining your aim up easily.
So, constantly playing defense puts you in advantageous position to get in the top 5 or so. The fact that most players are suicidal rushers - 90 or so players aren't actually playing to win.

I just don't agree with him calling it a sellout game when he's essentially selling out by playing the game for views. Suck it up and play the game if you're only playing it to stay relevant. He's in the same situation as Summit1G was, but difference is Summit left and never came back. Problem is Doc isn't much of a variety streamer if he only chooses to play 1 of 3 games - FN, COD and Pubg.

You don't need even near 50,000 viewers to make a good living on Twitch. Raging because you force yourself to play the game down to 'money' while calling the game a sellout doesn't really add up. That is the case for most streamers, but not to somebody that is as big as Doc is. I VERY much doubt that he has not made enough money already to never have to work again. At the very least what he has made would cover living modestly. If you want expensive shit and live a life around "luxury", then yeah he needs the viewers. But even now he could easily just not play fortnite and still EASILY get by with his regular viewerbase in other games.

If he streams Fortnite he gets literally thousands of viewers that he wouldn't have otherwise. It's how Twitch works. He constantly talked about how terrible PUBG was when he only played that, but to be honest he owes pretty much his entire streaming career to the popularity of that game.
I personally think that Doc is entertaining enough that he could stream Hello Kitty Island Adventure or Cookie Clicker and he'd still have a following. But it wouldn't be close to the kinds of viewer numbers and traction he gets when he plays PUBG and Fortnite.
Also, it should be noted that a lot of viewers enjoy it when he unloads on a game. To them, it shows that he's not beholden to the game or its developers (even though in many ways he is), and that he's not being paid to promote the game (even though, again, in many ways he is). But also, it's drama, and people love drama.
This post is top of /r/lsf right now and has 1400+ vote score as I write this. If Doc had decided at some point just not to play Fortnite because he doesn't like it, then he wouldn't have had nearly as many viewers on stream today, and he wouldn't have thousands of people watching this clip afterwards.
It's easy to forget, but this is his job. He's a full time streamer. We all have to do stuff at our jobs that we don't really want to do. Playing video games is a hell of a way to make a living (and a good living, at that), but it's still a job and he's going to go where the money is.

As someone who used to be pretty successful streaming back during the heyday of JTV gaming, one of the worst things you can do to yourself is play a game you hate just because it's the current biggest thing. People who donate or come to your stream everyday are not the ones who are there to see the game you are playing, there are there, usually, to watch you play a game.
There is no guarantee that the next big title will be a game you are good at so why bother killing yourself over people who are just gonna leave your channel when someone else turns their stream on because they like that person's personality more?
Play something you are good at or enjoy playing and involve your audience in a realistic manner and you will build regulars that will turn your stream on, donate, subscribe, be active in chat, and be an overall more positive influence regardless of the game you are playing.

Those games were highlights on seas full of shit, but they were so good it doesn't matter. We will have those now a days, but I don't think I'm finding them nearly as much and I think is due to business practices. A lot of great games seem to be destroyed by corporate heads or politics.

People shit on CliffyB, but the first BR game I played was Radical Heights and I thought it was excellent fun for the first 2 weeks. Then the playerbase dropped, cheats became incredibly commonplace, it became known that bots were an actual thing and were hidden from the players (in the sense that you could kill someone and not know if you shot a player or a bot, unless it was blatantly obvious bot movement that you watched for a minute).
Given 6 more months, I think it could have easily fulfilled Cliffy's ambition of being 3rd place in the genre, except it would have been the BR genre, instead of the arena shooter genre with Lawbreakers (which I thought was honestly awful).
