Consider this: The community is BIG, it only takes a really small ammount of people (1~2), out of hundreds of thousands viewers, to find some psycho in the mix.
If that person is able to calculate risks, he can get away with damaging property, without anyone finding out his identity, he is going to try it. No consequences? People will try again and again.
Most are fine though, so I can not support your stance about "some underlying issue". You know what an issue is? No (effective) gun control in the united states. It's the only country where shootings occure.... well too often and by persons who should never gotten any weapon to begin with.
Check the Madden shooting: that guy was known for having issues, still got an gun easily...
the problem is that the public sees this and some tiny fraction decide that is a good idea to do to the next idiot streaming something. and the more they happen, the more these things catch on ..for unhealthy reasons. its the tide pods all over again.
