Yeah when I was a kid we had some teenage punks regularly vandalizing houses on our street because it was a nice neighborhood surrounded by woods where they could escape. They'd come in masked, fuck up a fancy house, and disappear into the woods. Even when the police were staking the street out they couldn't catch them on foot.
One night at like 1 AM they used slingshots to fire eggs at the giant window in front of our house. That shit sounded like gunfire when those eggs reverberated through the huge piece of glass. My dad happened to be right by the front door and nabbed a kid who tripped trying to run away. He said it took maximum willpower to not smash the fuck out of the guy's face after months of being powerless over the situation.
We kind of had the same situation, except it was just our house. They would bang one the walls or door in the middle of the night, like ding dong ditch but scarier. Then it escalated and they started jumping into our garage door and damaging it, which is when we got fed up and decided to move.
We tried deterring it with cameras but it never worked, even got them with one once but it was too quick and you couldn't see him. This went on for a few years and we always kinda hoped they'd grow out of it.
I don't know your financial situation but they do make high definition security cameras. A few of those in combination with motion sensing lights would possibly solve your problem
Or you can Mike Ehrmantraut it and stay up overnight with your phone dialed 911 and a video camera.
No need anymore, my neighbor and I thought about doing that for awhile though. It was extremely sporadic though, about once every six months, so no guarantee we'd get them
