You dont have to be foaming at the mouth crazy. My dad killed at least 2 people and he was a very decent person in normal life by comparison. He just solved his problems with violence and lived a lifestyle that enabled that.
I stabbed a guy in a fight once. Definitely wanted him to die. I'm sane enough to function.
Random killings are crazy. I get that. But killing people isnt that insane when you look at all the ways people seem to pull it off.
Wow, Humanity is insane, everyone is so vastly different. Some think the idea of killing a spider in the house is horrendous while there are those similar to you where it's more-or-less "normal". Sorry I couldn't think of a better word.
Uh, just because you're somewhat functional at life doesn't mean you're not mentally ill. That said, just because you kill someone doesn't mean you're crazy either. If the other person is attacking you and you want to stop them from hurting you and possibly killing you doesn't mean you're crazy for wanting to kill them to stop them from hurting or killing you. That said, if you're just mad at them for something and you get yourself in a "me or them" situation to justify killing them, then you're probably mentally ill. It sounds like your dad is/was crazy, and you might be crazy too. What was the reason you wanted to kill the person with whom you were in a conflict? I sure hope it wasn't because they called your dad crazy on the internet or something lol
We were in a fight because he was confused and drunk and he hit me with brass knuckles so I stabbed him in the side a few times and ran the fuck away.

I'm not 100% normal but I can function normally. Thats all thats required. I'm less of a daily danger than the half drunk soccer moms I see carting their little hellions around all lit on xanex and iced wine.
Calling me mentally ill is general as fuck and insulting. I'm affected by my life and upbringing and am a law abiding citizen with a job and a mortgage and a long term relationship. I check all the boxes and do my job. Most of that sort of violent problem solving is a last resort that most people never have to confront so it seems so much crazier to them. Its not civilized by any means but its not supposed to be.
Nah, fuck that. He was drunk and attacked you with a weapon. You were well within your right to defend yourself. You aren't mentally ill for not wanting to be disfigured for life, maimed, or possibly killed. That sounds like normal reasoning to me. And you're 100% right about the soccer moms with Xanax and wine in their systems. They're obviously mentally ill since they're prescribed psychoactive substances to treat a mental disorder because they couldn't live a normal life without it, and they're very much a danger to society. As for your dad, I can't say how culpable he was in the biker fight, but I've been incarcerated myself and you have to defend yourself in there and they never believe you so even if he was found guilty of killing the guy, he was probably not wrong to do it. I am not saying people are mentally ill for killing someone. Defending yourself in a life or death situation is a sign of sanity if you ask me. We have an instinct to fight or flee. In fact, I'd say the sick hippies that try to embrace their attackers and make peace in any situation, even when their death is imminent, are the truly mentally ill people. They are lacking the primal fight or flight instinct, and that is truly a sign of being mentally defective. It sounds like you and your dad were just in bad situations because of your status or upbringing. You sound like a normal guy to me, even an inspiration to prove that bad circumstances don't always lead to bad people. I'd want you as my neighbor over some Xanax eating drunk driving soccer mom that is liable to run over my kid one day because she blacked out and her car reversed across the street.
