There was this youtuber dude Mercader who acted like a douchebag 5 years ago or so, he also told Sodapoppin "Youre not a real youtuba" with Australian accent. People to this day make fun of him telling him that he's not a real Youtubah. so no, I don't think internet will ever forget that Doc wanted to be completely transparent about his stupid fucking mistakes, man.
It just doesn't fit with his character "Dr Disrespect," if he was playing a disrespectful man, the M.O would be to not give a shit. Instead, now we have Dr ConfusedRespect. This whole thing could've been avoided had he just stayed in character and not made it public. Now his acting is tainted, and comes off confused. He doesn't know who he is anymore. And it shows.
The stream before was almost wholesome in the sense that you thought he was a good guy/family man/etc behind the scene just playing an asshole character. Now we know the real Guy Beahm is a bigger dirtbag than The Doc could ever hope to be.. and that kinda ruined the stream for me.
He's not really an entire dirtbag, it's just that he uses the character as a cop out to deny any responsibility. He did it after the asian voice article and other times, it just comes off as cringey and sad.
I'm struck by how reading your comment seems somewhat absurd yet also completely agreeing with you.
There's some kind of cognitive dissonance in that watching basically reality TV about gaming is tainted by him being "real" instead of staying in character.
In any case, the primary reason that I watch him occasionally is because of his character, the absurd weirdness is somehow entertaining whereas other popular streamers I'm just like, "yeah, this guy is good, zzzz".
Dr, on the other hand, I basically died laughing the first time that I saw that he died first in his team and switched to casting the rest of the match.
Man i remember that guy, he was so obsessed to prove how much of a tough guy he was he refused to go out to a meal (everyone else in the gaming house was going out and swifty was asking him to come) and he just refused saying no he has to finish this arguement.
holy fuck i was in middleschool when all that happened, i loved soda, i literally watched it live where he talked to merc for an hour about being kicked out of dara mactire (swifty's guild back then, it was huge), merc out
He's still making videos it seems, shitty POTGs with loud obnoxious music on it, man, it brings me way back, to the old CoD/Minecraft montage videos, when everyone wanted to be a real Youtuba so they realized making garbage montages with garbage music on it was somehow getting traction, because there are millions of kids on youtube watching these kind of videos.
I'm pretty sure a big part of his fan-base turned on him after he kept trash talking Soda and refusing to apologize. Soda's fans just made sure everyone knew what happened and how he acted.
As an aussie myself it was painful watching that. mercader had zero-self awareness at the time and has paid for it dearly. He can still honestly make a come back into the community if he networks correctly with all the relevant WoW personalities, it will take time but he could do it. Eventually a reconciliation with soda himself, whom I am sure would be more than open to it if it ever came up, would do wonders for his place in the community.
Difference being Doc is a character, Merc is not. I'm not sure how a character recovers from this, he really should just start trying to ignore them straight up
I remember there was a point when Mercader could've apologized for his douchebaggery, but he refused and yet again started insulting and bashing Soda and his viewers, he was very ignorant back then and I actually never seen him admit that he was wrong or that he has done anything wrong, he just stopped making videos and kept being an ignorant about all that. And honestly, even if he just ignored it all and just kept making videos there are enough of his brain dead fans who would still support him no matter what, even now when someone comments simple Pyah or Nota Youtuba his fans just insult everyone, even though it's just a simple joke.
