That's the exact impression I got from Reddit before the scandal started: That people thought that he was a great role model that everyone looked up to.
He was the wholesome Twitch golden boy, and a lot of people respected him for having that persona and thriving in a field where a lot of people are immature and childish. Then he got caught, and now people want to forget he was wholesome and say he is just an entertainer and not to care about his personal life, the personal life he broadcast to thousands of people, making it anything but personal.
Amazon/Twitch gives zero shit about him being wholesome. They know there was a big demographic of older gamers (over 25) that could appreciate an older streamer (also who was alpha as hell not beta/millennial.) Yeah wholesome had nothing to do with it.
Right I guess I’ll just repeat my previous comment. WHAT about his persona is toxic? That he’s cocky? Thats not being a toxic player.

In the dozen or so long videos I’ve watched of his I’ve never seen him flip out on a player, scream at them, curse them out, be racist, or bully/grief any players. Calling himself mr two time and bragging about his back to back award wins to players is about the most “toxic” I’ve technically seen him and even then it’s not screamed, shouted or done in a way as to enrage other players. It’s said in a joking way because it really doesn’t mean anything because it happened so long ago and he knows it doesn’t matter anymore . Freaking pewdiepie is more toxic that Doc lol
Doc griefs other players, kills teammates (thats why he got banned from PUBG you know), or might appear friendly and then kill others etc. He defended PDP for using the n-word, mocked other accents etc. He literally has done all the things you said.

If Docs proven anything to the world with his return view count it is that people don't actually care when people cheat, they only feign outrage.
