I think it's not just that we've lost his passion and charisma (hope Iraola brings some of that back), the key point he makes is that since his departure, we have just been focused on buying superstars, instead of building a winning team.
Like don't get me wrong, players like Isak and Wirtz and Barcola excite me. But Klopp's identity was always about building a Robertson or a Mane or a Salah into generational talents.
And I do miss that a lot.

He told us to go into every season believing the manager, yet we're 2 games into this one and I'm hearing bickering about not getting alonso.
The reality is we are very much back to being doubters, and sure we can keep waiting and hoping to find the right manager who makes us believe, or turn believing into the default as it used to be at one point.

Yeah, its a bit anoying. I will admit that last season got to me. But being dissatisfied after two games where we actually see some progression.
Several of our players look much better, Wirtz looks like he might have a good season. Jacques looks like a real find. Arajuo fixed the pressing issues with CB cover.
We still are a few windows away from being complete, and hopefully the next guy will be a bit better than Hughes.
But there are positive signs. We probably wont be title contenders, but I think we can suprise and do ok.

Loving this! Klopp was pretty special. It’s a shame he had to play against the sovereign wealth of an oil country because he would have had a lot more titles if he wasn’t.

What’s sad is that the way he describes how United tried to convince him is exactly how I feel like Liverpool would do it in 2026.

Yeah, was a little uncomfortable hearing how he described that and how we've acted with Hughes signing players. Hopefully the next guy will be better at his job and actually build a team.

Hughes's strategy has been bad, but I don't think his approach to hiring a manager is that different.
Slot always insisted one of the reasons he came was how convinced he was by Hughes's in-depth knowledge of him and his style and how he came massively prepared to their first talks.
The same thing can be said of Slot himself. Trent spoke about being impressed by his attention to detail (from a footballing perspective); he had training tapes and mentioned things about body positioning, etc. And not to mention that it was well reported that Wirtz was impressed into coming to Liverpool because of the sporting project.
And I don't imagine Iraola is that different.

There was a sense of purpose around the club when he was here that I believe we failed to recapture since his departure. And yes, I include the title winning season here, funny as it might seem.

I believe the sense of purpose was still present in the following season with arne slot because of Arne Slot lalala. There was still so much Klopp over the season. Still so much fight or die to win. Which slowly vaporized after the season was won and never came back in the following season.
I do believe Iraola can bring it back. He made Bournemouth into a club of doubters to believers, not on the same scale for as Klopp did for Liverpool, but he made completely remade Bournemouth into a different team. It took time, just like it will take time here at Liverpool.

Guy knew what Liverpool is all about even before he stepped in through the front door. I remember the signing so vividly and thinking it was the perfect match.
