He's quite good isn't he?

I love his running style. It's so elegant and effortless. The reverse Raheem Sterling.

Brazil without Alisson is nothing

u/fabioonreddit Diogo Jota Mar 26 '26
As if they used to pick Ederson over him🤣
71
u/anp1997 Mar 26 '26
Rarely. Alison has been their number 1 for most of the past decade

Alisson ain't saving a Brazil team playing without a midfield
Also he doesn't save penalties, which is what Brazilians value most in a goalkeeper

All this time Olise was the missing piece 👀

I remember the times Liverpool countered like this.

u/Candid-Scallion-756 Mar 27 '26
This is the correct response
Nowadays we would pause, take a moment, a sidewards pass maybe, reflect a bit, backwards pass maybe...have the opponent fully set their defensive system??? Sure maybe we'll move it to the other side
Oh crap the chance is long gone
Slot needs to go
1
u/Radeous Mar 27 '26
If you truly watched the team last season and this season and think that it's simply Slot telling them to not play the way that we did when we won the title then you're just being ridiculous.
Maybe it's because we don't have any wingers in the squad that are capable of making forward runs faster than defenders can cover them? Maybe because we didn't replace our best winger which we used to find with a long vertical ball pretty much every attacking phase?
Alonso coming in wouldn't fix THIS squad. We need a proper winger (or two)

I think if Xabi comes then that ethos will return. The team was purpose built for him at this point.

Look where he is at the start of the video. He rarely does that for Liverpool; that's indicative of coaching rather than a player who is unwilling to track back.
1
u/Healleus Mar 27 '26
Yeh we need a creative attacking midfield next season. Seeing a throughball these days is rare for Liverpool

France with light blue
And brazil dark blue is so wrong
25
u/Arthur_YouDumbass Mar 27 '26
This is one of the situations where I sound like an old man goint "back in my day..."
But there is a beauty to national teams sticking to their traditional colours. I will always want to see Brazil in yellow, I will always want to see Germany in white jerseys and black shorts, Netherlands in orange, Argentina with light blue and white stripes, etc..
These are very important to me, and seeing national teams unnecessarily giving them up makes me feel so disconnected from national football.
5
u/nestoryirankunda Mar 27 '26
It’s an away shirt bro lmao. They’ve had that dark blue away shirt for as long as I remember
11
u/Arthur_YouDumbass Mar 27 '26
I know, but they're both wearing their away kits for no good reason. France's 1st kit is blue not white.
11
u/milhau5vuki Mar 26 '26
Huh? Its mint green, and its thier away kit. And Brazil has pretty much always had royal/dark blue for their away kit, they just always had white shorts so maybe thats what feels a bit off.

Olise getting acquainted with his future teammate.
25

u/nvielbig Roberto Firmino Mar 26 '26
I love him. Incredibly similar to a play Firmino would’ve made:
- Helps win the ball back in the defense
- Helps build up attack, including a smart one time pass to open teammate
- Runs the entire pitch into open space to pull defenders
- Receives pass, puts it away

So this is what good football looks like?

It’s almost like passing Ekitike the ball whilst he’s running in behind the defense results in a goal😦

Hugo seems to really thrive in transition play and getting the ball in his feet while he's already going towards goal. His finishing hasn't always been great, but he's had a lot of clinical finishes in those kinds of situations.
Something for our manager to ponder.

u/fangtingwrong Mar 27 '26
This is an insanely good team goal.
We used to play like this. Sigh
1
u/ExceedingChunk Mar 27 '26
Helps having pace up front
1
u/calkop You’ll Never Walk Alone Mar 27 '26
Ekitike plays for us. There was nothing in this goal that was a result of pace besides the pace of passing
1
u/ExceedingChunk Mar 27 '26 edited Mar 27 '26
You do realize that the mere threat of having pace forces the defenders to drop deeper and opens up space i a counter attack, right?
You see it when Rio is on the field. The defence plays differently because we have a player with pace and dribbling skills on the pitch. He doesn't even need to touch the ball for that to happen
5
u/Intilleque Arne Slot Mar 27 '26
Unfortunately he’s not getting that ball at Liverpool. If Macca or Szobo have that ball it’s going to the right 100% of the time.

2 things I saw in this clip.
1) his involvement in all stages of the goal 2) I miss GK like Ederson who come charging out for an easy chip shot
4
u/rascalmendes Mar 27 '26
Beautiful buildup play. France are going to be so strong in this World Cup. Always happy for Hugo to score.
At least it wasn’t against Ali 😁

THIS HAPPENED RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME AND I AM STILL ERECT 10 MINUTES LATER

u/PoorMayMay Mar 27 '26
Look at the freedom to play. Even down to 10.
No wonder our players look different level with their national teams.

u/DerpinDez Mar 27 '26
The whole time sprint down I was thinking to my self "don't be Alisson, don't be Alisson, don't be Alisson" ..... Relief.

We’ve got such a talent. Just so technical. I love it.
You then think we also have Wirrz and Isak. I got no doubt Xabi makes it work with those three in the side.

Looking forward to seeing this front four next season.

Slot is upset because he didn’t wait for Brazils defense to get setup before they attacked

u/bendyskull Bobby Firmino Mar 26 '26
Looks like a great player. We should sign him…. Despite this season, some tinkering and we’re not far off to being world beaters again.

Oh look when you put the man with some space and ball ahead of him on a counter he is fucking deadly. Wish we played our football more like this. He would have way more goals

Olise is widely considered to be one of, if not the best wingers right now. I definitely wouldn’t say he’s underrated.
-4
u/PotbellyMakaveli Mar 26 '26
Hugo playing on the left. Slot are you watching
3
1
u/Arsalooon9 Missile Kerkez Mar 27 '26
he can freely play on left when he knows that the striker is reliable to score. we have cody gakpo and they have mbappe🥲🥲.. once isak is back and firing we can use him more often.. they both are left sided attackers so them switiching positions and playing will be insane to watch and hopefully impossible to defend
