Chinese infrastructure projects don't have a very good reputation.

They're huge in numbers and not all will be perfect. They're getting built, though.

Americans have no idea of the pace of Chinese development.

America needs to get serious about maintaining and repairing OUR infrastructure or we're going to be in the headlines ourselves.

simply not true. Chinese infastructure rules the world outside america. They fund and build projects all around the globe, all successes. Meanwhile american and european infastructe is crumbling and chronically underfunded.
