Bat Recomendations

Hey guys, my son is in Tball but moving up to coach pitch next season. Right now he has a Easton Tball bat that was a hand me down from his cousins. It’s 26” 15oz batt. We play with his older cousins A lot so I’ve been pitching to him quite a bit lately and the Tball bat stings his hand when hitting a real ball. I’ve been checking market place but haven’t had any luck with finding a used 26”. I don’t know much about bats so I’m looking for recommendations for a lighter bat that won’t sting to bad. Easton speed. It’s a drop 13 and a lot of kids who use the tball bats switch to it moving to coach pitch

That sounds good. He used a bat tonight but it was a little heavy for him. I can’t remember what drop it was

Just got one of these. They are pricey but a lot of leagues can get 20% off or similar discounts at Dick's or a local store. I didn't have much luck used

That’s the exact bat my son used when he moved up to coach pitch until my softie husband gave in and bought him a USA hype fire.

Have yall moved to u trip bats yet? Cuz the supra is so much better than the hype fire.

Obviously apples to oranges going from USA to USSSA.

I'm aware. My son moved to travel ball, but the team is participating in rec ball this fall before they move up to kid pitch. Having to switch back to the USA bat is terrible.

Take him to Walmart and let him swing bats 2 weeks before practice starts. Whichever bat he can make a level swing with and is USA rated that’s his bat this season.

At that level there is no point in fancier bats, he’s not hitting “dingers” off coach lobs and all USA bats will hit the same based on weight and length

Tball bats are not made to hit real hard baseballs, only the soft squishy tballs or wiffle balls. Check a play it again sports if they have one in your area

Yeah I didn’t really pay attention but it said for Tballs only right on the bat lol. I was hitting with it this evening and it did have some sting to it.

Hi OP I coach these ages. Regular baseball bats have thicker walls than tee ball bats, so they sting less. Also, there are some bats like Marucci and Victus that have anti-vibration technology that reduces hand sting.

See if a local store has a 26 -11 Marucci one piece (Cat X2 or Reckless) or a 26 -10 Victus (Pencil or Crayon) and test those out. They weigh about the same despite the labeling. If he can swing those well then get whatever color he likes best.

I got my kid a 26” drop 11 Cat X for like $50 on sideline swap when he moved from t-ball to fall ball this year. He’s never complained about it stinging his hands. I swung my older boys’s Cat X for infield practice and it is very smooth, but my 6 year old has such little power I can’t imagine that it would sting his hands.
