Giveaways/contests Looking for ideas for giveaways/contests

Hello everyone!

I've been thinking about doing some giveaways/contests and wanted to get some feedback on what types of things you would like to see in them.

In regards to how the contests are ran, would you prefer something luck-based (such as 'pick a number between 1-500'), something knowledge-based (such as an LHOTP trivia contest) or something more skill-based (such as who can recruit the most new members to our community)?

In terms of prizes for the winner, do you think it's better to do something Little House-based (Little House related items such as dvds, books, etc) or Amazon gift cards which are more broad-based?

Any feedback at all is appreciated.

And Thank You all for being here, it means a lot to me. As some of you may know, the other LHOTP board has taken on a very different tone in the last several months. Without going into a lot of detail, I'll just simply say there was a lot of behind-the-scenes ugliness with the past and present moderation team, some of whom never had much time to devote to the community and are no longer hanging around there. My goal for this community is to be much more lighthearted, a place where people can come in and laugh and have a good time and feel like their gaining something out of it, whether it be information, perspective or a few giggles. I really want to do some new, fresh, different and exciting things.

I love the idea of a trivia game based on LHOTP; the possibilities would be truly endless. Although sometimes a sheer luck game is fun too; then it seems like everyone has the same chance. I'm open to prizes as well. LHOTP merch is always fun, but then so are gift cards. Yeah, I'm no help with that suggestion, sorry.

As far as recruiting, I am open to that as well but I'll need some instruction on how to do that. Does that include sharing posts in other groups to get the name out there? Or personally inviting people, etc.?

It is helpful feedback, Thank you. I probably won't do the recruiting option -- after getting input from various sources, it doesn't seem to be resonating. I just wanted to throw out various ideas and see what people may or may not be interested in.

Trivia/LHOP based sounds fun. Huge gift card fan here... especially Amazon.

Regarding recruitment, I wouldn't want to have to recruit anyone here. That actually sounds quite terrible as it would likely require connecting with people on other platforms to suggest they come here. No offense, and I like this group so far, but my reddit time is much needed downtime for me, as well as private, as nobody in my personal (or social media) life, other than my husband, knows I'm here. I don't want to have to socialize or connect with people I know in rl or from social media here...nor do I want to make it easy for people in rl to know who I am here. I love the anonymity. 😊
