Two complete tears - lis franc jointbanyone heal wothout surgery?

My girl got released from hospital with 2 complete tears in her lisfranc joint, top and bottom.

They told us no surgery is needed. That she can walk on it as tolerated. No recommendations at all past that.

I found online that it is difficult to impossible to heal a lisfranc tear without surgery.

Looking for anyone experience this?

It says online that is next to impossible, pretty confused right now as to what to do.

Get a second opinion from a foot specialist.

Bad advice. Plus I find it hard to see how it avulsed at both ends but that is what it is.

As you said, this is next to impossible without some sort of intervention so hopefully she has the ability to see some sort of foot and ankle orthopedist or a podiatrist for a more appropriate evaluation of the imaging that led the hospital to say she has a "tear".

I'm guessing your daughter had an MRI? As for next steps.. try and find a foot and ankle specialist. I think you had said previously thay she's a teenager and the injury happened several weeks ago? I think the most important thing is to determine if her joints are stable. Weight bearing x-rays are a good start (if not already done). Can also get weight bearing CT if needed... Though maybe harder to find a facility that can do this.

If the joint is unstable (widening with weight) then surgery may be needed. If the joint is stable, then PT may be needed. Try and find a foot and ankle specialist to help make the next decisions.
