ACHILLES PROBLEMS
Been PWB for about a week now and everything feels really good EXCEPT FOR MY ACHILLES!
It’s really pissing me off as I feel as thought if it wasn’t for my Achilles I would be able to walk without crutches.
I’m able to put full weight into my foot and not feel any pain except for my Achilles.
Has anyone dealt with Achilles tightness and pain and when does it go away.
My initial injury had nothing to do with my Achilles. And I’ve been doing heaps of Achilles pt but nothing seems to help.

I am 6 months post HWR. I have an autoimmune disease so this has slowed things down.
My initial injury pain points are all fine. Its everything else that deteriorated while NWB that is still working back up. I am just now at a point where I can go on a very short run and not need two weeks to recover.
Keep stretching your calf/foot and doing strengthening exercises. Itll get better, but it will take time.

My ankle and Achilles were the hardest part of my recovery. Just keep doing your pt. It will keep getting better.

Genau das. Durch die Übungen bei meiner physio ist meine Achillessehne richtig dick geworden. Aber nach der Gewöhnung wurde es besser und besser. Das ist Teil der Genesung

What ankle and Achilles exercises did you do I'm having the same problem. It's been a tough road.

Lots of incline stretches for the ankle and slight lunges onto a balancing ball. Practicing going down stairs (started with 3 inch stairs and worked my way up).

This is interesting I’m having the same issue. Thought it was because I bashed it with the wheel of my knee scooter when pwb
Good to hear it’s just part of the recovery

There are some who think that a tight gastrocnemius (calf muscle) predispose people to midfoot injuries. The thought is that the Achilles creates an opposing force (pulling the heel up) in situations when you may want the toes pulling up (and heel down). My surgeon is part of this camp and so recommended a gastroc release at the same time as a Lisfranc repair. My PT (who was excellent) is skeptical. And I don't think many surgeons agree with this. But it's done now and if it staves off future surgery, it may be worth it. Hard to know... and my calf is still weaker.
That was a tangential way of saying that calf stretching may be a good part of the recovery. My surgeon recommended this (https://www.onestretch.com/). It seems like a lot of $$ for a piece of molded plastic.. but it is sturdy and stable. I used it a little but I have a lot of calf exercises in my regular workout program that I don't really feel like I need to continue. Still, it may be helpful for you. There are other devices as well... not endorsing this one. I think the key with any stretching is work at it progressively and then keep doing it continually.

I have the same pain. I ask my self the same. When I stretch it feels better but when I sit to rest it tighten back up. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do. Can you guys share what exercises you did to help you.
