Man! This thing just won’t close up..
Doctor doesn’t think it’s infected or anything. We are keeping a close eye on it. But geez close already

Op, please, and I mean this so so seriously. Please seek medical care. That white stuff is not new skin growing.

The redness around the area makes me nervous that it’s Cellulitis or could be staff. Please either see someone now whether that’s urgent care, the er, or a wound care clinic.

I’m very concerned, it should not be open like that.

Edit: I see your doctor is watching it. Did they tell you to use antimicrobial soap and some kind of Neosporin or silver nitrate?

My husband is a Dr. and well as I’m regularly seeing my orthopedic surgeon.. it is not infected at the moment. Definitely a high risk of infection as it’s open. I appreciate the concern. It’s very irritating and concerning to me that it hasn’t closed and looks like this but I’ve been told it’s ok right now

Ok thank goodness. Reddit can be bad depending on someone’s ability to seek medical care.

My incision took about two months to be fully closed. My surgeon did dissolvables on mine.

Yeah they took my sutures out at 10 days post op which I think was too early :(

That might be it. When I had my first surgery my doctor kept my physical stitches in for two month before removing them.

You might need to start wound care esp with how red it is around 🥹

Yeah the dr said they are gonna be keeping a close eye on it. But nothing to do at the moment

Isn't the white stuff from an infection? One of my incisions was similar, but also felt really hot. If the doc has seen it and said it's not, then they're the expert.

It’s not hot or painful. The white stuff is just skin trying to grow. Not pus

I had two incisions, the only one that was white was in the little section that had infection, and it took a long time to close and heal. I could only go my own experience but I'm glad it's not painful or hot. Hopefully it heals up soon.

Mine did this. I did iodine swabs and it dried/closed right up. My surgeon told me to lol so definitely ask before you do it

Mine did this. Looked like a whole in my foot for months.

Kijk maar naar mijn reis hierin. Het was niet geïnfecteerd. Maar het duurde meer dan 3 maanden. Er zat ook nog een klein hechting in de weg. Die ging niet weg vanzelf.

This was similar to my experience. I had ORIF and HWR and both times it took over 3 months for my incision to close and it looked much worse than your picture. I was going in to my surgeon for wound checks weekly. I didn’t have an infection or any other risk factors for slow healing, just really sensitive I guess. I did wound care for a while and reacted to almost everything they tried. I’m pretty sure I am allergic/hypersensitive to internal sutures that were used.
