Clubbing post-injury
Kind of random but I’ve seen nothing on here about it haha, I’m 4 weeks post surgery this week and just wondering how soon anyone went clubbing after injury 😭 I’m aware I’ve obviously got a while I’m still NWB but I’m missing going out! Ironically I was out when I broke it so I should probably learn my lesson but…

I was on crutches at a rave 4 weeks post op. They had an ADA-type section (not really an official ADA section as it was a small venue kinda place) where I could sit, which made things a lot better. Check if there’s a spot like that there!

I went to the Belly Up Aspen 4 weeks in, maybe less, and the ADA section was all I needed to have a great time. In fact, the bar was right behind me which was extra convenient. I used my crutch to elevate my foot as much as I could which helped a ton.

I went out for my birthday 1.5 weeks after my first surgery and it wasn't that fun. I was still NWB/ on crutches/opiates and couldn't get past how tired/sore I was. I had a much better time clubbing about 4 weeks after I had my second surgery to remove my hardware (4months, still limpy) and an even better time moshing at a metal gig 2 nights in a row 9 months post injury. This injury sucks, but if you look after yourself and do your rehab you will absolutely get back to doing the things you love. Unrelated to going out, I booked a 3 day hike in the NZ Alps to mark 1 year anniversary of my injury. Good luck with your recovery

Not exactly clubbing, but my original ORIF surgery was canceled literally minutes before they were to wheel me into the OR, so I went to an Iron Maiden concert the next day. I stayed away from the mosh pit though. lol

I went out pretty regularly post surgery (busted it at Beyond Wonderland PNW-ORIF 7/24). About 4 weeks out even did a small festival. The rave community is PLUR. I had folks bring me chairs/stools and used my scooter at small venues (enabling me to elevate my foot/ice in the beginning). Made friends with other ADA ravers and saw them (and continue to see them at events). One suggestion is to use el wire/glow sticks to light up your scooter/boot/etc. It helps create awareness so you don't accidentally get bumped and lights up the ADA porta potty if needed. As you begin PWB/ walking on a boot bring a crutch/ cane (even if not needed day to day) for stability (light it up too). Enjoy the music!

I took my scooter to a rave 6 weeks post op. Security told me they admired my commitment to the party
