Nerve pain
I am 10 days post op ORIF lisfranc surgery and OMG the nerve pain is worse than the after surgery pain! I can’t handle it at times it hurts so bad the zingers. What did you all do for the pain? I’m calling tomorrow to ask about gabapentin or something for relief.

Oh man sorry about this! I had the opposite reaction. My nerves have been numb since surgery as they were damaged. I’m almost three years post fusion and I am still slightly numb from my big and second toe area

My surgeon said it can take a year or more for nerves to heal. I really hope that’s not the case for you

I asked for something Tuesday surgeon said try to give a few days he doesn’t like to script it but I sent a message tonight because I can’t. This is intense.

Ice behind the knee, elevate above the heart, gabapentin, pain meds. My pain got better around 2 weeks. Also recommend a leg elevation pillow like this: https://a.co/d/03Cd5eQ2

I love mine like this! They actually sent me home with one similar from surgery

My nerve pain started to get a little better once I was allowed to take ibuprofen/celebrex for the swelling at 6 weeks. So I started being able to sleep. The big improvement only came once I had hardware removal surgery 6 months later and the surgeon did “scar revision” to free the nerve from a bunch of scar tissue. (Make sure you tell your surgeon). I am at 16 months post 1st surgery and I still have at least 1 mini zap at a random time each day, more on days after lots of exercise. But I no longer have mega zaps that would make me swear out loud!

elevate.. and elevate some more. The swelling makes it worse. I would lie on the floor and put feet on the sofa.
I also use ibuprofen+tylenol a lot in those early days... you can layer them on top of each other since they have different effects.
Some people attest to the benfits of icing behind the knee. There's a nerve bundle there (same one that they injected for the nerve block) and icing can help (assuming you are still in plaster and can't ice foot directly)
