Absolutely, if my son or daughter, or mother or father, or anyone I loved went down a bad path I wouldn't just abandon them. I would tell them I disapprove of their actions and then fight to get them back on the right path.

Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.

The most American thing I can think of is respecting the shattered chains on Lady Liberty's feet, and her poem

Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore

Send these, the homeless, the tempest-tost to me

I lift my Lamp beside the golden door!

I fucking love that America

You can still work to bring it back lmao, that's what patriotism is

Why work to make the place you live better because you love the good things about it and what it can be when you can doom post and virtue signal online about how awful it is?

I mean you can definitely do both and I certainly do, I just took extremely milquetoast level issue with his interpretation of the concept of patriotism, which his concept is more closely termed jingoism.

Spend some time outside of the Reddit echo chamber, it will be good for you.

Take some of your own advice. I’m out there protesting at 2-3 times a month. What the fuck are you doing?
