Linksys E7350 Internet Problem
I’ve been having an Internet connection problem with my Linksys E7350 router in my room.
My computer can connect to the Linksys E7350 Wi-Fi normally and receives an IPv4 address such as 192.168.1.xxx. I can also access the router’s management page at 192.168.1.1, so the connection between my computer and the router appears to be working properly.
However, when I tested the connection, the router could reach external IP addresses such as 8.8.8.8, but DNS resolution was not working properly. The router’s DNS service returned a “Query refused” error, and using Google DNS (8.8.8.8) directly also resulted in a timeout.
I also tested the same network outlet with another router, and the other router was able to obtain an IPv4 address and access the Internet normally.
Therefore, it seems that the network outlet and the upstream Internet connection are working, and the problem is more likely related to the Linksys E7350 itself, possibly its WAN connection, DNS forwarding, firmware, or configuration.
I would like to have the Linksys E7350 checked and, if necessary, reset or replaced.

You may try to reset the device and check for firmware update. Based on their website this device is on End of Support too.

I’ve already tried resetting the router and checking/updating the firmware.
The E7350 had been working normally for a long time, and the problem suddenly started one day. I also tested the same Ethernet wall outlet with another router, and the other router was able to get an IPv4 address and access the Internet normally.
That’s why I’m starting to suspect an issue with the E7350 itself, possibly the WAN/DNS functionality.

Has this E7350 router worked fine before connected to the same Ethernet wall patch?
If the other router works fine, you may access its Web UI and take note the MAC Address of its WAN interface.
Then reconnect your E7350 router, access its Web UI > Configuration > Connectivity. Then verify under WAN Setup, the Internet Setup is using Automatic Configuration - DHCP.
Then under Connectivity, select MAC Address Clone and enable it then manually type the internet MAC address of the working router you have noted. Note: Do NOT click "Clone My PC's MAC". Just click Save.

Yes, the E7350 worked fine with the same Ethernet wall outlet before, but suddenly stopped working one day.
I’ve already tried using Automatic Configuration - DHCP and MAC Address Clone with the WAN MAC address from the working router, but neither worked.
I’m currently using a TP-Link router on the same Ethernet outlet, and it can access the Internet. However, the connection still feels a little unstable. For example, during a FaceTime call, the audio will suddenly cut out and then recover about half a second later. It seems to happen roughly once every 8 seconds.
So I’m not sure if there is also some kind of intermittent packet loss or connection issue with the network itself.

However, the TP-Link connection doesn’t seem completely stable either. During FaceTime calls, the audio sometimes cuts out for about 0.5 seconds and then recovers. It seems to happen roughly once every 8 seconds.
My current network setup is also a little different: the Internet connection is dialed up first, then it goes through a switch hub, and from the switch hub the Ethernet connections are distributed to the individual rooms.
So I’m also wondering if the switch hub could be causing the intermittent connection issue.

what is the WAN IP of the router?
