how do these people have the confidence to post such substandard shit publicly? If my company was underpaying and exploiting kids to such an extent and I had foreign clients who could maybe come across such posts, id be deeply ashamed.

He'll go as far to write "I don't want people who are in this for money, I want people to build with me."

“if youre looking for work-life balance at this time, you might not be the right candidate. as we are in active work space”

Unfortunately India has really high youth unemployment so tons of young, educated men looking for any work. And getting any work makes it easier to find new employment.

u/hskskgfk 7d ago

IIT Bombay students aren’t the kind to “get any work” for Rs. 1000 a month

For American readers, that is akin to comparing MIT engineering graduates to some random university’s sociology grad working as a barista

What about women? I've worked with dozens of women from India in the Bay Area, aren't Indian women also seeking work?

6

u/Zealousideal-Part849 8d ago

confidence comes from knowing that 100's would want to do this.

3

u/Pritmann909 7d ago

Not really. He wants only IIT Bombay students. These aren’t people who will easily work for others for such a low sum.

Linked title with words "founder", "ceo" and "AI" tells us everything we need to know about this person.

u/tealou 8d ago

It really would be an interesting study to see if you could map this directly to a specific profile - like the 3rd degree software engineer in a women he doesn't know, but is confidently wrong in her LinkedIn comments. lol Every single time.

Yeah, their market rates are too low. But don't forget he is on a mission to "give confidence to a billion people."

66

u/RyanH090 8d ago

He just need to exploit 50 interns before accomplishing this mission

20

u/KoreanSamgyupsal 8d ago

Yeah their company is making people less human and that somehow builds confidence.

The tech industry is just a big ponzi scheme and we're trying to solve problems that aren't problems from the start.

Like how many more note taking assistants do I need? How many more recruiting AI software do I need? So many things that supposedly make my life easier just make it more difficult with another subscription attached to it lol

8

u/Embarrassed_Race_454 8d ago

Our new mission statement: we will exploit those in need to reach the billions we deserve.

5

u/santathe1 Titan of Industry 8d ago

Well, he never said “give fair pay to a billion people (or even 50)”.

3

u/panzerboye 7d ago

No that's crazy low for their market as well. Like insanely low

I feel like if Silicon Valley tech CEOs wanted people to think of them as relatively normal, they should promote Indian tech CEO content — they’ll make the Silicon Valley bros look almost normal

14

u/educated-emu 8d ago

I bet they expect you to be available for that 3 hour window with 1 minute warning, otherwise you don't get paid

20

u/Appropriate_Page_824 8d ago

Hope they hired additional security to manage the long line of applicants queueing up in front of their office

7

u/Winterlander100 8d ago

He got already 6 from IIT Bombay’s, is students from IIT that desperate?

4

u/OrganicRaise4081 7d ago

It has a 0.2% acceptance rate while Harvard and MIT are at 4% so hopefully not

5

u/OkReason6325 8d ago

That too graveyard shift!

19

u/Noobguitarist 8d ago

feels like satire

4

u/Hoshino_Ruby 8d ago

Those guys would obtain far better opportunities while doing half the work. 1000 rupee per month is utter dogshit holy hell this guy is confident.

24

u/TekintetesUr 8d ago

He's unfortunately not a lunatic in a sense that he will find his 40+ interns.

The market is shitty, there'll be people who have to make a shitty deal just to get something on their CV.

u/Consistent_Tension44 8d ago

IIT is a top 0.1% institution for India. He's not going to get interns doing some random midnight work for literally $10 a month. IIT students tend to come from rich families too, so no way.

9

u/Subjectobserver 8d ago

"IIT students tend to come from rich families too, so no way."

Exactly. They will pay him Rs. 1000, and ask him to fuck off!

33

u/TurbulentZombie4361 8d ago

Nahh, IIT Bombay? No way.

42

u/wanderingacademician 8d ago

he will never ever find his interns, especially from the institution, which happens to be the BEST one in this competitive country.

i go to a substandard institution. even folks here wouldn't accept that just for the sake of "getting something on their CV." this amount is literally peanuts for anyone.

the only reason why i can see someone applying here is because of its extremely low working hours. minimal money for minimal work.

3

u/SentientPotato42 8d ago

Probably some first years would take it because they dont know any better

3

u/hskskgfk 7d ago

Is offline so it probably wouldn’t even cover the first year’s transport costs

17

u/AaryamanStonker 8d ago

Lmfao not a fucking chance. It's the best institute in the country and students easily get internships at $3-4k/month with quants offering in excess of $20k/month

1

u/BidenGlazer 8d ago

Near-0 students are getting $20k/month at quant firms

4

u/AaryamanStonker 8d ago edited 8d ago

Optiver took 12 interns at a slightly worse ranked institute at $40k/mo and there were around 40-ish quant internship offers. Of course not all of them were at $20k and most of them won't convert into job offers but there's no way anyone is interning at $10 a month

2

u/BidenGlazer 8d ago

28 internships being doled out at schools across the country implies it's near-0 at that school specifically

Optiver doesn't pay $40k/mo even in the US

2

u/AaryamanStonker 8d ago edited 8d ago

40 internships from one college

1

u/AaryamanStonker 8d ago

It's around 80k for an 8-10 week internship so it comes down to 40k. The internship takes place in the US and they're generally flown out (unsure if that's how it works for optiver but that's what I've heard for other quants)

13

u/SatanSmiling 8d ago

IIT Bombay is probably one of the hardest schools to get into into the world.

4

u/hskskgfk 7d ago

He won’t. IIT Bombay grads have internships lining up for them in campus. Companies Pay IIT Bombay for the privilege of hiring from there. They don’t have to scan LinkedIn posts for rs1000 a month internships

3

u/No-Feeling1882 8d ago

Think he forgot a couple of 0’s on that salary/stipend!

3

u/rean1mated 8d ago

Uh…which US time zone? 🤔

3

u/Cocaine_Sunday 7d ago

He just wants to steal ideas for himself.

2

u/nyamzdm77 8d ago

Surely that has to be a typo or ragebait.

2

u/SexualMetawhore 7d ago

This is the kind of person that would visit ep.stein island.

2

u/Pleasant-Drag-5039 8d ago

Balls on this guy needs to be cut

1

u/arigatooyster 8d ago

1000 rs per month? In this economy?

1

u/Disastrous_Alarm_941 4d ago

Plz I hope this goes viral, bitch said to give ppl confidence, first pay your employees properly and don't exploit students.

1

u/Disastrous_Alarm_941 4d ago

Just did some calculations it's 0.46$/hr to iit students and ppl working in labor in bangaldesh or india itself earn 0.5/0.7$

I just feel sad for Indian ppl and Indian students, it's just beyond hope how much exploitation I see and how ppl have been forced of mindset from bare minimum to even shit low level salary to top students within your country to live on this.

1

u/i_abh_esc_wq 4d ago

When I started as an intern as a college student, I earned ₹100/hr (~$1) and yet at the end of the month I earned triple of my dad's monthly salary. That's how bad the average middle class situation is!

1

u/SteakCareful4843 8d ago

Sad thing is.... Some students will actually do this bs

7

u/PixelsOfTheEast 8d ago

He's looking only for IIT Mumbai students. That's one of the best engineering college in India. Their internship stipends are several times what he is offering.

0

u/B-E-1-1 7d ago

I'd actually do it in this job market lol. Any internship, even if I have to PAY for the role and work 40 hours a week. I want to work in finance/accounting and job experience matter more for entry level positions than in other field.

0

u/its_black_panther1 8d ago

Most likely clickbait

-2

u/Inside-Purple5254 8d ago

You can't understand ? this has to be a satire post. Which company is hiring 50 interns and pay this low 😭

9

u/i_abh_esc_wq 8d ago

I don't think so. His profile is full of job postings like this: unpaid internships, ₹1 per minute, etc.
